Buy two of these [@] and throw away the the included reel. Or just keep it as a backup.

I'm a photo student and this is my first development tanke. It seems to be working just fine. Only major criticism is the fluidity of moving between chemicals. That is, if the top isn't on you're going to be leaking chemicals on the floor - but if the cap is on, then you may have a little bit of a delay in getting it off to stop the developer, which may cause problems. So far it hasn't, but just a heads up to account for it.

I thought I know how to load film on a plastic reel but these Paterson reels are terrible to load. In the 80s I used JOBO reels and tanks which have a clever indention on the top of the reel were you can feel the progress the film makes during loading. But these Paterson reels are rubbish, the tank itself is o.k., however the lid doesn't fit well.

Comments about Paterson Photographic Paterson Universal Tank w/ One Reel:
The Paterson tanks are the best in my view. This is a great one. The only oversight I think is that the kit only comes with 1 reel. If you plan to do mostly 35mm development, make sure to get another reel. You should really have two in place when developing.

I used to have steel reels and tank and I always found it difficult to put film on the reels. With this system, putting film on the reel is a snap. The reel also can be adjusted to fit 35mm and 120 film. The tank can be used as an inversion tank or a agitation tank (or a combination of both). Cleaning the tank is very easy and it seems to be able to take some abuse. I've dropped it a few times with no damage. The only negative I can find is that you need to be careful that the lid is seated correctly otherwise it will leak. But, I supposed you could say that about other tanks as well.

A TWO YEAR OLD COULD LOAD THE FILM IN THIS REEL AND NOT GET THE FILM KINKED. PERFECT RESULTS EVERY TIME.
