I love the grain of this film. This is my fave film for the gritty, moody indoors/street photographs I have been concentrating on. I shoot this at either 1600 or 3200. I know what this film does, and don't have unreasonable expectations

Closest to honest EI rating for a really high speed black and white film. Surprisingly good tonal range at EI 3200, and appears to have enough bottom end to be pushed farther.
Has large, clumpy grain, which is to be expected.

Ilford Delta 3200 is the best high speed B&W film out there. You can shoot this film anywhere from ISO 800 to 6400 and get good results. My best results have been at ISO 1600 using HC110 developer at dilution B. Kodak stopped making Infra red film. But you can put a red filter on Delta 3200 and shoot during the day for a quasi infrared look. It is more sensitive to IR light than most B&W film. With the #25 or #29 red filter you get dark skies, glowing skin tones and dreamy grainy images. Truly a unique film!
ISO 1600 and #25 red filter

Delta 3200, which I rate at 1600, allows me to extend the range of available light photography with medium-format cameras. In the larger formats, the film's inherent graininess is less pronounced, and the tonal range is very pleasing.

This is my favorite film. From a beginning amateur photographer, this film produces gorgeous prints. Of course this is a matter of opinion as it is super, super grainy. Just a matter of preference, but if you're ever in the mood for semi-abstracted photographs, this is the film for you. However, don't think about blowing your prints up unless you want them to become completely abstracted--which can be beautiful in its own way, but I don't think it's the effect most photographers try for.
