HUGE fan of this film! I started using this in 1982 with my first camera, a Pentax K1000. I just love the way prints look, especially when taken on overcast days. Even though I have gone digital, I find myself using this more and more in my old school Pentax ME Super. It makes me think. I have stocked up on this-you never know when it might be discontinued.

I just received 5 rolls of this film and already went through 3 of them. film looks great printed or scanned!
Very consistent results and fine grain.
I would rank it as good as the kodak's c-41 bw400cn film.

I love everything about this film. But note that Adorama is selling film that expires within 30 days. The film arrived and the boxes looked like they had been flattened then had film canisters stuck back in them, who knows what condition the film is in? XP2 is GREAT, but Adorama isn't making it obvious enough that they are selling almost-expired film.

Chromgenic film
By Black Line from Tucson, Az on 9/2/2007
Pros:
Incomplete information

Comments about Ilford Ilford XP-2 Super Sharp, Fine Grain, Black and White Professional Film ISO 400, 35mm, 24 Exposures (Expires 02/09):

This film must be processed using color chemistry. You cannot use conventional B&W chemistry!! Do not purchase if you intend to use conventional B&W chemistry as it must be processed in color chemistry only. Though, according to the Ilford website it can be printed on traditional B&W paper.

As an addendum to my earlier review, I wanted to say that I still plan to shoot with this film even after finally taking the digital plunge. Don't give up your film cameras just yet!

My favorite B&W film
By fercott from Wilmington, North Carolina on 9/24/2006
Pros:
Consistent, Great for landscapes, Reproduces Well, Shallow gray scale
Cons:
Bad for portraits, Requires practice
Best Uses:
Artwork, Landscapes nature

Comments about Ilford Ilford XP-2 Super Sharp, Fine Grain, Black and White Professional Film ISO 400, 35mm, 24 Exposures (Expires 02/09):

This film requires some practice getting used to its grayscale. Not very flattering for portraits, but really cool for landscapes. Very emotional B&W film for still life and landscapes.
