Comments about American Recorder Tech Photo Studio In-A-Box, Portable Studio - Compact Design:

I occasionally need to photograph some small items for myself and others. The DIY light tent just did not work well for me, not much of a DIYer I guess.

So when I saw this product at the price listed I jumped on it and I am glad I did.

It sets up quickly and the lights are more than powerful enough for what I need them for. They do get hot though so you cannot put them right away when you are done. But I can live with that!

Comments about American Recorder Tech Photo Studio In-A-Box, Portable Studio - Compact Design:

I've been selling small items [@] for years and have always had a problem taking photos that were not too shiny, too dark, bad backgrounds, etc.I want to sell the item and not have it look like I found it in an attic after 50 years. I don't sell antiques. This allows me to take well lit, informative photos of everything I sell.

Comments about American Recorder Tech Photo Studio In-A-Box, Portable Studio - Compact Design:

The light box itself is light and compact but not too small for small objects like necklaces or figurines. The white fabric doesn't diffuse as well as I hoped - the lights still cast shadows on both sides of an object. Slighly thicker fabric on the two sides would soften the light better. I expected brighter lights for the price - not enough light for macro/zooming or dark objects. I am going to use a floodlight from above. Other products might be better, but I haven't tried any.

Comments about American Recorder Tech Photo Studio In-A-Box, Portable Studio - Compact Design:

This is not the quality I expected. The bottom of the unit does not sit flat. The sides and top are wrinkled and there is no way to smooth them out. I had to put a board in the bottom to set things on and in doing so the sides did not stay where they should. The lights get very hot and hard to handle.

Comments about American Recorder Tech Photo Studio In-A-Box, Portable Studio - Compact Design:

I really like it. Cut a lot of time in hauling my light tent to office (I usually shoot our products' pictures myself and setting up a good lighting environment inside my office always required some transportation effort for my gears.)

The two lights are still not quite adequate. However, I bought some clip-on lamps frames (~$4/each, including tax)from local hardware stores. With 30W compact fluorecent lamps, they are low cost enough for me to leave a couple in the office).
