This is the most useful stand I own. It is very heavy, which while providing a very durable product also makes using it outside the studio difficult (unless you've got assistants to do the grunt work). As a boom stand it is very sturdy. Putting a beauty dish or softbox on it doesn't even seem to phase it, you could almost go without a counterweight or sandbags (though I wouldn't advise it!). As a standard vertical stand it is overkill, but having the ability to do either is wonderful. It only takes a minute to change to a boom stand or back again and the hardware is well thought out. Get some wheels for this thing, when carrying a light and a counterweight it's difficult to move otherwise.

This the best boom stand I have. It is capable of carrying heavy strobes and light modifiers. The stand is TOO sturdy for the everyday use but is is nice to know that it can work in the most challegning conditions and not to worry that the arm just will not handle that one heavy light fixture you have at the most extended position.
