When fully extended, it works as a baseball bat and keeps nasty animals away. Saves space when easily folded and retracted. Rugged and durable. Oh yes, it is also great for holding your camera and flash too! The build is overkill and rugged beyond belief. It offers flexability so you can make your own adjustments. Go from landscape to portrait with a flick of the wrist. With the adjustable extension you can easily control your shadows. Don't leave home without it. I still use the older #3429 on occasion.

So I marked it 4 out of five as it is a little bulky, but to be fair I would not want anything flimsier than this. This bracket really helped me out recently when a daylight shoot turned into a rainy night session -- gave me lots of options with where I could send the light and it's very quick to change positions.

BTW, I love Manfrotto gear. Still using a tripod I got over 25 years ago. This flash bracket feels like it will last at least as long.

I wanted a bracket that would eliminate the need for for another lightstand when shooting with speedlights. This is perfect for portaiture, mounted on my tripod, with a 16x16 foldable softbox. It's sturdy and gets high enough to not be in the way. Great product! Would I recommend to a friend?....How about 26 of them! Took it to my Camera Club, passed it around and now everyone wants one!

I wanted a flash bracket and I had a few simple requirements. I wanted it to be solid. I wanted it to fold & store compactly when not needed (for travel), and I wanted it to be reasonably adjustable.

This Manfrotto bracket is exactly what I was looking for. It folds up nicely when not needed. Once adjusted and tightened down it is rock-solid -- nothing flimsy. The mast adjusts to a nice tall height when needed.

The mast has a reversible brass plug, each has a different size male thread (make sure your flash either has a standard threaded hole on the base *or* that your off-camera flash cord has the threaded hole.) The base also has a similar reversible brass plug (except female instead of male) so you can mount it to a tripod.

Don't forget that you'll probably need an off-camera flash cord appropriate for your camera & flash.

Strongly constructed. Collapses down to 15 inches for carry. With a quick release bolted on, it's on and off the camera quickly, and it gets a strobe far enough away and to the side of a subject to allow directional lighting. Manfrotto quality construction.

Don't be fooled by the promo photo. It looks like a piece of leftover plumbing. Infact it is very cleverly constructed and the build quality could not be better.
The various connections are rugged and up to Manfrotto standard. When used with a small ball head, it is easy to get the flash up, and over the centre of the lens. It is high enough to give a good enough angle to remove red-eye from most focal lengths. The flash can be positioned for the shadow to fall behind the subject.

I really wish I had taken the time to buy this earlier and not mess about with inferior solutions.
Solid and dependable, it is now a regular part of our flash system.

I'm using it to shoot basketball. Poor lighting situations with no time to mount strobes. With an ALZO Sync cord I can shoot ETTL, and move around the gym with assurance my lighting will work. I'm shooting with a 70-200 lens-mounted on a monopod. This allows me to easily swivel the body between portrait and landscape on the fly.

There was one allen-screw that came loose the first time I used it, which allowed the vertical arm to sway an inch, and with a 580EXII 20 inches above your head, that is not a good feeling. But just another reminder of the photographers creed - be prepared for anything.

All in all, another very versatile Monfrotto product.

This bracket does not include a flash mount, so make sure if you don't have one already, you buy one at the same time.

I use this for family events, children's portraits, and animal photography in home settings. It is sturdy and easy to use though you must have a flash mount addition. It could use a bar attachment to center the flash over the lens though.

I was looking for a camera bracket that did not make me look like the man from mars. I checked tons of camera brackets on the web, but there was always one weak link, sometimes it was the price. What I needed was an economical swivel type camera bracket that I could use at weddings and special events. Some brackets I checked had arms so short, that if I used the battery-grip on my camera the Flash would barely rise above the camera. Others had complicated bulky swivel mechanisms, and others held the flash very awkwardly above the camera when in the vertical position. Now this bracket is not perfect. I wish it allowed you to place the flash directly over the lens, but I think with a miniature ball head(like someone else mentioned) attached to it, I can compensate for that. I only had it about a week, but it seems pretty sturdy and well built. It is very simple to use and extremely light. Good thing, because my camera and lenses can get heavy.

Bought this primarily to use for shooting events to get the flash off-axis, but realized quickly that because the boom can be turned/rotated around all 3 axis this is going to be handy with closeup/macro work as well.

I have looked at a lot of flash brackets over the last six months or so....tried several that were twice the price...they were not as stable and didn't offer anything this bracket doesn't for a bargain price. Lots of flexibility with this bracket....I am truly convinced after trying close to ten different brackets....THIS IS THE BEST DEAL ON THE CURRENT MARKET ! You can't go wrong with this one ! Great bracket for off the camera flash. Strong construction. A little cumbersome mounting the camera to the bracket but other than that I like the bracket. Have been getting great flash photo results.

This Bogen-Manfotto 233B Camera Flash Bracket folds up to be less than a foot long, and 3.5 inches wide. This bracket will hold up to 2.3 lbs, and telescoping arm to hold the flash anywhere between about 11" to 18". The flash male mounting thread, and tripod female mounting thread are both reversible 1/4" to 3/8", and the camera female thread is 1/4", and comes with a 3/8" step-up female thread.

This item is a well design, and very compatable piece of professional equipment.
