I don't have muslin or paper just yet but this cross bar works for many different backgrounds. I've even draped a comforter over it and it holds really well.
I've also used it to hang some lights and dry fish. One day I caught my wife even using it to hang dry some of her clothes!

Easy to use, wish the screw that attaches the cross bar to a stand was a little longer.

Exceptionally well made to stand up to the most demanding use. Comes with sturdy clamps that worked very well with my Lowell stands.
