Comments about Bower Bower ETTL / ETTL II Zoom Flash with GN 112 ISO 100, for Canon EOS Cameras:
The first unit I received would not work in ETTL mode. I returned it for a replacement. The replacement unit works fine.
The flash is completely automatic. The description of this flash is incorrect however. The Bower flash actually has no advanced ETTL features at all except for Flash Exposure Lock -- no FP mode, no Modeling Lamp, no second curtain sync. Otherwise, the flash works as expected though the flash is a bit weak for ceiling bounce photography requiring the camera's ISO to be set to at least 400. Unless you're on a very strict budget, I would recommend something with more features and power.

Comments about Bower Bower ETTL / ETTL II Zoom Flash with GN 112 ISO 100, for Canon EOS Cameras:
I've ordered this product as a ETTL II Zoom Flash, ETTL II being its main attraction to be used on my digital Canon SLR. When it arrived, I ran a few test shots and they were quite good but then the ETTL II feature died and the flash stopped working at all on both my cameras that understand ETTL II: the Digital Rebel and K2. It only works on the Elan and only as TTL. That would be ok as I only need it as my back-up flash but its battery saving feature kills me: the flash go to sleep after something like 10 or 15 seconds and the camera doesn't wake it up; you have turn the flash off and on to get it working and it takes time to reload. And on top of all that, the zoom is manual. All together, I do not recommend it.
