Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Wanted to use my flash on my old Vivitar flash bracket, to get the flash off of the hot shoe, and allow more flash flexibility. Makes a great combination with my Sunpak PZ42XC. With the flash bracket, I can turn the flash completely around, and bounce from anywhere. Fires every time. Worth the money!

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I have read that this product breaks very easily, but I haven't had any problems yet. It seems pretty sturdy with my 580EXII attached. So far, so good.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
It worked perfectly at first. I used it to place my flash off camera to an L bracket. After several uses I was photographing my new granddaughter when the plastic shoe that mounts it to the L bracket broke.
I am a long time Canon customer going back to when my Canon A-1 was new. Until now a Canon product never failed me. The 40 year old A1 works perfectly. This product used with my XSI does not measure up to what I thought were Canon's quality standards.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I use my oc-e3 for mostly for weddings and event photography. It's was great purchase that all photographer should.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I own a few of these cords, all mounted on my "CB Folding-T" brackets. After reading all of the negative, least helpful reviews first before I purchased them (as I always do), and if you have done the same then you need to read the following: after I received my OC-E3 cords, I came up with a quick fix to help the durability. Before mounting a flash on it or attaching it to a flip-bracket, remove the four small screws from the flash side & split it in half. Line the outer edge of one of the halves with a small bead of strong glue or epoxy (I used Gorilla Glue) & re-attached & screw the two halves back together. I have had NO PROBLEMS at all. I use these cords with 580EX II's, & 480EX II's and they handle the weight just fine! They are very reliable, & function just fine with my 5D MkII's, 50D, & 30D. I wanted to stick with the CANON brand for product compatibility & dependability when I bought these cords, & I am very happy with their performance! The OC-E3 is a great piece of equipment to compliment your Canon EOS cameras, just treat it gently (as you should all of your camera gear)& you won't be disappointed!
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Nice for moving flash or transmiter away from camera. But it is not heavy duty. So be gentle.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I am on my third OC-E3 out of necessity. Anyone know of a better designed / better made product that does the same thing? I'll be the first in line. This OEM product is of no better quality than the cheap knock-offs that are 1/3 of the price - I expect better.
My two previous cords have failed in the same way - the fine-threaded cap screws that connect the two pieces of cheap plastic containing the "guts" of the shoe (on the flash end) strip right out of the holes. I cross my fingers that when the next one fails, I am able to catch $400 worth of flash before it takes a nose-dose into the floor.
This piece of equipment is most definitely -not- for professional use and is just not capable of supporting a large flash (i.e. 580ex) in anything but the vertical position in a stationary set-up - i.e. completely inadequate for "flip-flop" wedding-style or macro photography flash brackets.
Bottom line - the design / construction is garbage and Canon should be ashamed to put it's name on it.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Must handle with care. Does not take any kind of rough use at all.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Using the product takes two people to hold cord and small softbox otherwise very usable in traveling.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Bought this item because it was a Canon product. Was to afraid to buy the off-brands even though they were half the price. Received the item and was unhappy with the quality of the product. Used it approximately 4 times before it broke. Thankfully, I was carrying duct tape and was able to duct tape the parts together. Still in usable condition, just looks cheap with gray duct tape wound around my equipment. LOL.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I had an off brand that actually did work, but I wanted to get a single head unit and decided that I would go with the Canon brand one. Heard too many problems about the aftermarket cords.
Hey, its an extention to get the light off camera. Works fine !

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
part of foot broke after a few weeks, rest broke off after 8 months, using 2 to 3 times a month. Will not buy another one!!!
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Its Canon, so I trust it. Tough decision since there are so many third party off camera cords at half the price or less, but I just did not want to risk having to buy this twice.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The only problem I had is the plastic base is (not if) going to break at the most inappropriate time. In my case before a wedding. With a little engineering you can solve the problem. I use the Omega Flash Flip (HOT) Bracket. If you unscrew the base from the OC-E3 and unscrew the cold shoe from the bracket, you can screw the OC-E3 directly to the bracket and it hasn't failed me since. The bracket costs about the same as the cord. So you dont have to keep buying something you know is going to fail. I have 2 brackets with cords directly attached to each and couldnt be happier with the performance ever since.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The hot-shoe to hot-shoe cable for TTL connectivity works just fine between the camera and the Flash, with exception that the coil cable is pretty stiff which makes it hard to hand hold the flash. With flash bracket, once I find a good one that works, the flash and the camera should work fine.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Cord works great. Here's the deal. The end the flash mounts into is cheap plastic and when (not if) it breaks it's $50.00 for the cheap $0.50 plastic piece that breaks. Might as well buy a brand new cable. Canon WILL NOT sell you the piece held in with 4 screws. I went round and round and round with them.Otherwise the cable is a great piece to have!!

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Its too bad that canon can't build this as well as
they do their cameras! I just ordered my third and
I only hope I get a few months out of it. It just doesn't support the flash unit well enough. All of the stress from the flash is concentrated in a very small area which causes failure in a short period of time. When it works, its great. Its just unfortunate that its the only choice we have

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
This is the second cord I've bought.
the cheaper cords do not work good with the
canon flashes. It's worth it to buy a good cord to save you hassles later on.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
very easy to operate
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I needed to have an off camera flash. Other products were too cheap and the quality was very low. The OC-E3 is perfect for what I need.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Just bought this and have only used it once. For the money this cost Canon should have made the cord longer; it is rather short but will work with my Stroboframe.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The springy cord is durable and wound pretty tight. Good for use with a Flash Bracket, but too short for use on a stand mounted strobe.
I also like the weather protection and locking feature.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The thing works but only for a limited time. I have had two fail within the last two months. This is totally unacceptable for something that is as overpriced as this is.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The concept is great. And it works great for the short life span it has. Maybe that's just it. This cord has a short life span and we have to accept it. It is made in China. It rather sucks knowing in big bold letters, "Made in China." And it has a [$] price tag on it. So after 2 of these going wrong and no customer "Help." I found the same thing on [...] Hell if I'm gonna buy the same thing over and over again. I'll pay half. Currently saving for the wireless setup.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Its an extension cord for off camera use. It works well. Its a little short, but its great for a flash bracket!
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Stronger than previous cord which failed on me

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I recently purchased the product, and I really do enjoy it. I had an off brand version, and it was a hassle. The Canon is the perfect size, it is just long enough to not get in the way, and long enough to do a great job. It is worth the extra money. It also has an awesome push button lock, it does not come off, when it is on, it is on. It also feels real good. Like quality, I guess.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I bought this cord to attach my 580EXII flash when mounted on the Adorama stroboframe to my Canon 40D camera. Don't bother with after market cords, this one is the quality piece, even though it's short, it's fine for my intended use.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
worked great for me
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The quality of this cord is less than the previous version. Consideryng that is a Canon product, it should have better quality but I guess we have no choice, if we buy an aftermarket it'll be like throwing the money to the garbage because those thing are relly worhtless.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I put this on for the first time with a stroboframe bracket and it broke after 30 minutes of use. I can't believe it!!! It just snapped in half on the flash mount end. The plastic around the screws busted. I had to rush to the nearest camera store between wedding and reception to pick up another one. If I have to spend 100 bucks every wedding I do to replace this thing I'm gonna be ticked.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Works fine except that it is not durable at all. Be careful with it or you will find yourself buying another one rather quickly.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The cord worked great attaching my 580ex to my Strobo Flip Frame. I was on a shoot in natural setting and slipped on some wet leaves on a hillside. My hand holding the bracket hit the ground pretty solidly and the plastic flanges that held the cord to the frame broke off. Not sure that I can fix it. It is too expensive for a cord. They call this "sacraficial" meaning that it's better for your [$] cord to break than your $430 flash. Not buying it though.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I wrote an earlier review on this and was quite happy with it. I was shocked last weekend during a shoot that it just simple broke and split in half. I was using a Stroboframe RL Flash Bracket, with a Canon 580 EX II, and a Whail Tail Studio. The Flash on my bracket is stationary, and the Camera does the rotation so there is less stress on the hot shoe, as opposed to some brackets that flip. I was "Walking" up a set of stairs, and that's when it broke. The flash and all luckily fell into my arms, and didn't fall and smash the hand rail. I've heard complaints that some people think the cord is too short,in retrospect I think this is a good thing, because when the Flash Mount breaks, the Flash will fall and Bungee, instead of hitting the ground and breaking.
Like the others, I've had the same problem with the plastic tubes inside breaking around the screws. Really cheap stuff considering the cost. I bought an additional Canon OC-E3 from Adorama as a spare, and used Krazy Glue on the broken one, hoping I can salvage it. I baby all my Camera equipment, and was so surprised in the way the OC-E3 feel apart in my arms. If you buy it hopefully you'll have better luck than me!

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I decided to buy the expensive Canon product because I wanted the reliability. After filming 2 high school football games, I noticed the screws coming out of the top shoe that held the flash on a bracket. I use a 580 EX II flash. All of the tubes that the screws screw into cracked and the two halves separated. I called the authorized Canon Service Center and they never heard of this and since it is an accessory, there is no warranty and it can not be repaired by them. There goes [$]0. I will just have to use model glue and see how long it lasts.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
This cord is awesome...don't settle with the cheaper cords...this is worth the money...great lock function on both ends of the cords.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
could be shorter for use on a bracket, but then again, could stand to be a bit longer for off camera use. all in all, a great product and would buy it again without batting an eye.. fits by 40D great and works well with my 580exII, no complaints..
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Works great and have not had any of the problems that were described in different reviews. So far it is pretty durable however not very long to test it since I don't need it with ever shot. Nice product though
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
The connection to the top of the hot shoe is much more solid feeling than the earlier design. a great improvement
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Product does what it is supposed to do... it's reliable and has worked every time for me... I would not expect anything less from Canon.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I had originally purchased a flip bracket package containing the bracket and an Adorama TTL cord. The Adorama cord mounting plate that connected the flash to the bracket had to be modified in order to make proper connection and TTL communication. It was used twice when a contact 'tang' broke off and TTL communication was lost. Additionally, the falsh mounting plate did not provide a secure feeling with the flash mounted, as if the flash was to fall off.
I then purchased this Canon product which is complete quality. It offers Cannon's new slide lock which is quick and easy. I've read some complain about the short length of the Canon cord, however, my sole use for the product is the flip bracket and its length is perfect for this use. I have complete confidence in walking around one-handing the bracket with the 580 mounted with no fear of it falling off.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Was surprised by the improved locking latch. Don't know why it took me so long to upgrade. Very satisfied with this product.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I purchased this product to replace my broken CANON shoe cord 2 which is now discontinued and it broke within an hour of use. I ran to the church, from my car,of this wedding I was shooting and on the way there, while on my bracket, the flash just literally fell of onto the floor. The top cap of where the flash sits on the cord just broke, this was an even worst thing than the shoe cord 2 which broke where you secure the cord and the flash bracket. I'm very dissapointed with canon, it seriously has made me consider NIKON for the first time. This item was [$] at a local store and they would not exchange it, they sent me to CANON for the repair.....SOOO DISAPOINTED, IT LASTED ME ABOUT 1 HR. OF USE.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
It works. My 580EXII can be attached to my bracket to give me more flexibility, and the connections at both ends are completely secure and allow all the information and control to pass between my camera and the flash.
Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
Works well with my flash bracket and canon dslr,
haven't had any problems

The camera end maintains the waterproof joint with an EOS 40D. The Speedlight 580 EX II functions correctly. The quality is built in and justifies the price.

Comments about Canon Canon OC-E3 EOS Dedicated TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord:
I've read about some problems with other "Generic" Flash Cords having problems with either getting stuck in the Hot Shoe of the Camera, or having "Sync" problems between the Camera and the Flash. I decided to go with the Canon brand cord, since both my Camera and Flash are made by Canon. I bought the cord to use with my Flash Bracket, and I've had no problems using it as such. Using this cord, works just as well as if the Flash was mounted on the Camera itself. I use a Canon XTi Camera, with a 580EX Flash.
