This is a very good affordable system. Its not too heavy and can be either stand mounted or handheld. The only flaw I found is the switches used to control the light output. Needs 3 or 4 switches to control fewer lights. You only have the option of controlling 2 banks, full or 1/2 power. Otherwise very good investment. Will buy another, maybe the 24 bulb unit.

Bright and cheap. Nice soft light, unfortunately appears to have a high-frequency flicker. Shouldn't matter for single-capture photography. Disaster on a scan back.

I didn't think I would like this light, but I do.
So much so that I believe I will purchase the 24 lamp version.

I love my SLF's. The light is soft and you don't have to worry about recycling. Nicely color balanced, though I perform a custom white balance to ensure best color. They are bulky and heavy. They smell for a few hours when you first use them. And the model number stickers come off right away. Construction needs to be revised as the front reflector plate has no screws at the corners, and the softbox cover can catch and bend it.

Definitely met my expectations for photos and video. Does get warm and generates a slight smell with full power and diffuser cloth in place.

Overall for simple lighting of small to mid size objects this light is good. You will need a few of them if you want to blow out the background to get it white. The actual light curls at edges which shows it was put together quickly. I dropped one and the entire board shorted out. The lack of heat is a nice thing and the color is closer to 3800K vs the advertised 5000K
