Not impressed with the whale tale. The DVD shows how to install and use. When used per instructions with the camera in normal landscape position it works great, especially for portraits. Nice soft warm light from my Canon 580ex.

But when you tilt the camera to vertical portrait position and tilt the flash per DVD instructions, it throw a harsh side shadow behind your subject.

Now after 6 months of use one of the mounting tabs has broken. The whale tale is still usable but harder to put on the flash head. Never was very easy to put on. I plan to replace with the Gary Fong Lightsphere II.
