Used exclusively off camera for portraits and environmental portraits with Nikon SB800 and assorted other reflectors. Allows great control of light so only the necessary portions are lit. Easy to add drama, and easy to adjust.

I was reluctant to "waste" money on the Honl honeycomb grids cause they are easy to DIY.
But the diy's don't last very long and you have no consistency from one grid to the other...
These grids are not a waste of money.

I use this on my SB-800 to get some great, dramatic lighting. Its sturdy and doesn't take up much room in my camera bag.

It is a device for controlling an area of light, say behind a subject in a portrait--which is how I use it. Its effective and therefore useful to own for anyone shooting studio portraits. I attached mine to Nikon Sb-600 or SB-800 speedlights.

The product is useful when a spot light is needed. Unfortunately its design makes it rather cumbersome to install as it requires a pricey Velcro strap that must be purchased separately. The overall design is somewhat unprofessional in appearance.
