Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic 2 Section Boom Arm with Counter Weight & Grip Head, Black, 1/4" and 3/8" Threads.:

Recently, I decided to create a home studio setup with three simple lights and a backdrop. I needed a boom to be able to place a large softbox directly over the camera, or in situations where I needed overhead support for a hair light.

I placed the boom assembly (with my Photogenic PL06 monolight attached) on a sturdy light stand, secured it using the supplied plastic clamp, and placed the counterweight on the end of the boom. The mass of the counterweight immediately snapped the cheap plastic clamp holding it in place, and the whole assembly fell off of the light stand to the floor, strobe head and all.

Instead of this model, I would highly recommend purchasing one of Adorama's other boom systems, such as one from Bogen/Manfrotto or Adorama's own house brand. The Interfit boom just wasn't up to the job, unless you only need to support a small strobe head or tungsten light.

Even then, it's a risky venture.
