The very first time I used the Lastolite Background, I was able to shoot the best high key shots I have ever gotten. It took me less than 1/2 the amount of time to set-up, and 1/2 the space.

I bought this as a simple solution for doing high key in small spaces. It was simple to set up and use. Allowed us to put the subject close to the background with minimal shadow or light spill. Was a challenge to close up. Took 2 of us a half an hour to figure out how to close it, and I am a frequent portable reflector user so I thought I would be a whiz at this process. After much wrestling and sweating it just closed properly. Whew.

You cannot beat this portable setup for high key shots. All four sides unzip for several illuminating flash options. The included support bars make this unit self standing--a big plus to avoid carrying another stand. Results are great with any type of strobe.

This is a product that lets your imagination run wild. Outside of it's obvious uses, try clipping a piece of fabric with a design, (like lace), over it. Instant new look. Solid color fabric gives a new background. Turn the main light off, and you have instant silhouette. Add main light with a snoot and you get silhouette with soft face detail. Different color gels in each side light produces a nice grandaunt of color in the background. Adding just a bit of light behind a chroma ley cloth eliminates pesky shadows when the model is standing close to the background. Perfect for small shooting areas. I know it's expensive, but I wish I'd bought it a long time ago!!

I was doubtful about the amount of light I would need to light the background for a high key portrait.
I used one FL110i (Smith Victor) strobe on each side. I was amazed when I found out that I had to decrease the power to half since both strobes would provide great ilumination.
It also works as a big softbox!
