Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto Convertible Boom/Stand 420 - Black:

This boom works pretty good with my 20" diY combo with my sb900. it takes a little getting used to, over all I'm happy with the purchase. Must use counter weight. I needed a least 15lbs for my combo.

Comments about Bogen Imaging Bogen - Manfrotto Convertible Boom/Stand 420 - Black:

I use this primarily to position a hair light for portraits. But, it can serve as an ordinary light stand if needed. Its real versatility comes from its top section that easily converts to a sturdy boom. I use a small canvas bag containing anywhere from 2-1/2 to 15 pounds of bar-bell weights as a counterweight. The lower end of the boom has a convenient hole where you can use an S-hook to hold a counterweight bag. This top quality convertable boom stand lives up to the high quality I have come to expect from Bogen/Manfroto. The only negative (which is not really a negative for me) is it is quite tall when folded. If you use it as a regular light stand, it would be too tall for some specialized uses, like a background light holder, but it is not designed for that anyway.
