Comments about Elinchrom Elinchrom D-Lite 4 Compact Monolight Flash Kit, with Two 400 Watt Second Monolights, Stands, Softboxes & Carry Case.:
have 2 of these sets and they work perfect in my studio and on location shoots. The light, color, and exposure is dead on every single shot. These are powerful, well built, with all the features you could want.

Comments about Elinchrom Elinchrom D-Lite 4 Compact Monolight Flash Kit, with Two 400 Watt Second Monolights, Stands, Softboxes & Carry Case.:
I bought this kit a year ago on an advise of the sale clerk to buy this brand as a better quality product that is reliable and delivers a flash anytime you need... yeah, he was right at that! It has not disappointed me so far. Lights have fired all the time! They have longer charging time in the beginnig of shoot or when you pause shooting and then somehow charging time gets shorter during rapid shooting.
Soon I realized that there is a drawback... during rapid shooting lights don't deliver the same results. Light levels vary and produce inconsistent color balance - mostly shifted in the cool spectrum. Images need a lot of postprocessing adjustment when changing from RAW files. Quite disappointing for the "swiss" product - it doesn't match the "swiss watch expectations"...

Comments about Elinchrom Elinchrom D-Lite 4 Compact Monolight Flash Kit, with Two 400 Watt Second Monolights, Stands, Softboxes & Carry Case.:
These are great lights for the price, but remember that they are Elinchrim's entry level lights and won't take the abuse that he high end lights will. The main use of these lights for me is travel, because of their weight, less than 3 lbs each. I was looking at other brands that cost more, were heaver and had less features. The only option missing on the D-lite 4 is a cooling fan, so just keep the modeling lights off when possible and they should last a long time.

I'm a full time photo student, and I work for a website doing product photography. My company bought this kit and about [$] in accessories almost six months ago. They worked for about 4 of those months. These lights don't have cooling fans and they constantly over-heat if they are directed in any angle that is not parallel to the ground. The modeling lamp mount is made of plastic, and has melted in one of the lights making it impossible to replace the lamp. The other light just stopped working and would give us an E.2 error, which we were told by the manufacturer has something to do with a blown capacitor. It took two weeks to repair, and we were forced to purchase another D-light 4 head which cost us another [$]. Finally, one of the lights has stopped flashing. We purchased a new flash tube which popped once then died like the last one.For a brand new set of lights, this is unacceptable. Its a good price, but you get more for your money from higher quality brands. Spend the extra [$] and buy the Profoto 300 kit. Stay away from these unless you only plan to use them once or twice a month!

This is a great package for the price. You get more than enough power with this package. I've shown this package to long time professionals in the business and they would trade in some of their more expensive equipment to have a package like this. It's got everything you need and it all packs back up in the carry cases that come with it. You're not going to find a better deal for a lighting set up than this.
