Works great[...] the only thing I hate is having to build up the soft-box every time I put it up.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

assembles rather quickly, instructions are a bit lacking, and the softbox isn't taught, seems a bit flimsy. other than that the assembly was fine, the stands may be less than sturdy, time will tell.
im using these with the interfit infrared trigger, they fire well, but have a limited range, you have to be in a certain area to fire them. I may switch to a radio trigger soon, i suspect this will give me better range.
I literally just unpacked them and tested them, I have 5 shoots this week, so i should know quickly how well these really work.
excellent value.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

I bought this kit as an alternative to renting higher quality lights for a series of shoots for personal work, and I'm very glad I did so to have these lights handy at all times.

I typically shoot table top or in my very small studio and was getting by quite well with a few SB600s which are triggered by on-camera flash in Nikon's Creative Lighting System. One of the major selling points of this kit for me was the fact that each head can be set to ignore up to 3 pre-flashes allowing flash heads to be used in tandem with the monolights.

Light and super portable - good for smaller spaces. Only problems are that the lights do not always fire if the optical slave is obstructed or more than a short distance away from the light source, CLS compatibility can be glitchy upon set-up, and the bag that comes with the kit is not very good quality (my zipper splits now and then but I do have the bag filled to capacity with other equipment and accessories). Though annoying issues, they are not a major enough to deter from purchasing.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

Great kit for the money. I'm an occasional portrait photographer and this works out to be ideal. It has enough power to do good portraits, digital control on the back for fine control and replication of settings. Included are basic items you'll need: softbox and shoot through umbrella. Even better is that it packs away into a nice case - compact enough to be hidden away... and portable enough to travel. The case also nicely protects the lights when not in use.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

I had two objectives: 1) to build a home studio; and 2) to be able to have transportable studio lighting.

For me, this Interfit kit fit the bill. I bought one in May, 2009 and I liked the first kit so much that I bought a second kit so I could have a four-light studio. Interfit offers accessories for this kit like "shorty" light stands, snoots and barndoor baffles, too.

The kit sets up quickly and work well, but the stands included are a bit wobbly if they are extended to maximum height, especially when the softbox is attached to the monolight head. Fortunately, you can purchase sturdier stands if required, such as the Adorama two-stand kit (LTSP10AC2). Also, if you want to use one of the heads for hairlights (as I've done), you'll need to get a stand with a boom arm. Again, Adorama offers one at a reasonable price. I also miss analog knobs for setting the intensity of the modelling and strobe lights, but I didn't find this detrimental once I figured out the digital read-out.

All-in-all, I would recommend this as an entry-level studio lighting flash kit, and have suggested it to friends (with the afore-mentioned caveats).

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

I use this for small home studio portraiture. It was easy to set up and the flash units performed well. The stands in the kit were solid but construction lends me to believe they won't handle a lot of abuse. I also bought the barndoor kit and it performed well. This was my first exploration into studio lighting....what a blast! A solid value in an entry level, well featured, flash unit.

Poor Quality - works only intermittently

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

After only 20-25 hours of use I started to have problems. First, the sound indicator quit beeping. I thought that was minor. Then, I began to get intermittent firing of the lights. The light connected to the Sync cable would fire, but not the 2nd light. I feel like they are low quality and they only partially deliver. It's annoying because they work sometimes and every test I created to narrow the problem just created more uncertainty.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

Impressed with the quality so far; Little confused by instructions for use( but first time light studio user); does what it's supposed to accomplish.
Suggestions:
Use light meter made for flash photography
and use a hot shoe flash made for the camera rather than built-in flash( more power)
and practice with manual setting on camera
Also this unit is made to be set up and left

I only had it for a day, but I'm very happy with the kit. It was just what I wanted, cheap portable and easy to use.
Lights work great.
Stands are little flimsy, but at this price I was expecting it.
If you wonder why I gave it only 4 stars, the instruction/ manual is very limited. Wish there were couple more pages to explain how to use it better.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

I bought this kit right after Christmas. I have been putting together a STROBIST style kit using 3 nikon SB 28s umbrellas and stands. I have more money invested in them than this kit. This kit is far more powerful and to my surprise they have optical slave cells built in. They can be triggered with my exiting flashes without buying anything else.

Better Value than the EX150 Kit
By TomMVerified Reviewer from Kensington, MD on 1/16/2009
Pros:
Attach Securely, Case holds 3 lights, Digital Power Indicator, Very portable
Best Uses:
General Use, Indoors, Learning Lighting, Low Light, Night Time, Outdoors, Special Events
Describe Yourself:
Semi-pro Photographer

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

The EXD250 kit is a much better value than the EX150 kit in that (1) the power settings are digitally indicated, (2) there is an added measure of power and (3) it comes with a carry case that is big enough to hold a third light.

These are excellent lights for learning lighting basics because you can approach the task with a 'by the numbers' viewpoint. Having a digital readout that lets you see precisely the level setting is an excellent way to compare lighting ratios, etc.

While it's true that these lights and their accessories are limited, they will not outlive their usefulness as you move to more professional lighting.

I used them on location. Easy to set-up and take down. Carry case came in handy. The lights, themselves, worked great. Sensors were very sensitive and picked up any flash in the room (and this room was large), accessories (extra soft box was a nice addition) were sturdy, but light stands were flimsy. Could be sturdier. Overall, the kit did its job. Looking forward to using them again.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

The only weakness I can find is that the softboxes are that quick to teardown/put together. Sure, they're 200ws, but that's plenty for a controlled environment and smaller groups. Being monolights they are far more convenient than heads that must connect to a power supply, especially if you get the wireless controller so you can use them without sync cords.

Comments about Interfit Photographic Interfit Photographic EXD200 Digital, Two Monolight Flash Head Kit with Light Stands, Umbrella, Softbox & Case.:

The Interfit EXD200 kit is a great value for the money. Sure there are other monolight kits for hobbyists that can be purchased cheaper, but this kit offers quality in the Interfit brand name, the flash tubes are replaceable, unlike many of the bargain units, plus it comes with a nice case for storage or transport. I'm pleased with my purchase and I think this is a great kit for someone starting out or on a budget.
