This stand works much better than the one that comes with the SB-900 in my opinion because the threads are metal instead of plastic. I had the other one strip. Works very well and as described.

I got this stand to use instead of the stand that came with the SB-900. This one (which comes with the SB-600) has a threaded metal insert to attach the stand to a tripod or light stand for use as a cold shoe mount (The SB-900's stand has molded plastic threads- not as durable as the metal). This stand will also work perfectly if used alone as a floor or table stand with the SB-900 and is much better in my opinion than other cold shoes since Nikon flashes will lock properly into place. So there is little risk of the flash falling out and crashing to the floor when up on a light stand.

Great for shooting machines & equipment (industrial photography). This stand allows me to place my strobes within the machine to allow precise lighting on the areas of emphisis.

We had a family Christmas party. I have 2 of these stands and I used it with a couple of Nikon SB-26 in slave mode. They attached perfectly on tripods and you now have a mini-studio of sort in your very own living room. My family pictures came out perfect and well lit. The brass screw-nut is wonderful. It can hold any brand of flash that has a hot-shoe.

Very handy to have in the camera bag. Screws down on a tripod too. Gives you alot of freedom if you are using a wireless slave.

Finally, I don't have to use shoes to hold my second strobe. And these plates have tripod holes too! Great accessory for any photographer.

I was looking for a flash stand for some extra flashes and I only find AS-19 and AS-21 from Nikon.
A little better than AS-21 as it has a metal socket.
But both work.

Great little gadget, wouldn't be without it. Every flash should come with one of these. If you don't have one, get one. It just plain works, on a stand or stand alone.

I ordered my first sb800, superclamp, lite-tite, 3373 stand and a Stroboframe shoe mount.
This stand/mount is waay better than the more expensive Stroboframe shoe mount...why?
1-free if purchased a Speedlight (or its cheaper anyways)
2-faster to use as a mount on a stand, arm, clamp (just slide the speedlight on, and lock. no need to twist a knob)
3-you can lock the speedlight on this mount.
4-the Stroborame one slips even when tightened good (2 smooth metal surfaces doesnt grip good)

The ubiquitous AS-19 becomes rapidly appreciated when no other flash support will get light where you want it. Tucked into your bag or hard case, the AS-19 brings the tabletop shooter an easy light source to move around in limited space where a stand is simply a big bother. I need a few more - and you probably do too.
