I've never broken one of these myself but I bought a used SB800 and it came with a broken one. They do seem a little fragile, however they fit much better on the SB-800 than the Stofen units.

I use the diffuser on my flash during indoor sports events that have poor lighting, it softens the flash output and it helps to diffuse shadows on the walls behind the players

There is a misprint on the the Nikon USA website. This diffuser does not fit the Nikon SB28 SpeedLight.

It puts out so much even, balanced light from one source that a totally unlit room appears bright. My main use is for superwide-angle interior photos. On a Nikon SB 800, even with a 10 mm, digital SLR lens, there are no dark edges.
