Comments about Achiever Achiever 940AF TTL Power Zoom Shoe Mount Flash for Canon EOS:
TTL turns on automatically but does not give good exposure; mostly badly overexposed at short distances (2'-5'). I didn't bother to test longer distances or slave function. I used a Canon T2i (which works great for close-up flash using 10 year old Canon 550 EX flash). The camera LCD says the flash determines flash exposure but there is no way to set exposure on Flashpoint as there is on 550EX.
Comments about Achiever Achiever 940AF TTL Power Zoom Shoe Mount Flash for Canon EOS:
Inexpensive yes, but rather limited in use. Will NOT work in ETTL when in Slave Mode. Only works in manual, with optical rather than IR sync, when in slave, so beware. If you're looking for something will go head-head with a Canon 430EX you will be disappointed. Will make good units to put on a stand and use as rim lights, or filling dark spots in a room, but nothing where I need real control.
Overall, I'd say save your money and buy a Canon 430EX or Nikon equiv.

Comments about Achiever Achiever 940AF TTL Power Zoom Shoe Mount Flash for Canon EOS:
I have this flash and the Vivitar DF-383 and I can say that they are identical flashes aside from brand names. I believe that Adorama.com managed to find the same manufacturer Vivitar uses for the same flash. However, the plastic body does feel slightly cheaper than Vivitar's but that might be just a minor discrepancy. The power output is identical as well as all the features and capabilities it has. It did not come with a leather pouch as the Vivitar did but then again, that probably saved me the [$], so who cares. I tested them together and they work great, I would buy more (and probably will soon) after some more test shootings and if the price stays significantly lower than Vivitar's DF-383. Just be careful how you handle the flash, the base is made of plastic and can break very easily, thankfully there's Krazy Glue (which works well to fix plastic bases). I've broken the Vivitar DF-383's plastic hot shoe foot from when a light stand pole slammed down into the shaft and the momentum and weight of the speedlight caused it to bend and break the shoe mount. Fortunately, instant Krazy Glue Advanced Formula worked well to hold and bold it back together.I bought this over a monolight because I realized, for my needs and style of shooting, it's more beneficial to buy more speedlights than fewer monolights.

Comments about Achiever Achiever 940AF TTL Power Zoom Shoe Mount Flash for Canon EOS:
Bought this a second flash and am very impressed with the performance. The only drawback is the time out function. Would like to be able to disable this as I have to keep checking to make sure the unit is active and ready.
