It has worked well for me so far. For the price, you can't beat it. I have been able to get right into a bee's face and take the photo with perfect lighting. No shadows. I highly recommend it.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix SmartFlash RF46C Macro Ring Flash for Canon ETTL II with 55mm, 58mm, 62mm & 67mm Adapter Rings, Guide Number of 46 at ISO 100 feet:
I've only a casual user, shooting flowers mostly so far, and have used this flash only for a short period time so far though, it has performed exactly as I had anticipated and the exposures have been excellent. It recycles quickly, but I haven't taken enough pictures with it in one shooting to determine how many flash cycles a set of batteries will last. The only thing that I think could be improved is the battery polarity markings in the battery compartment. Markings are black on black and hard to see except in bright light.

I am a retired pro who teaches. Have both Nikon and Canon units. Tested both with students.
All were very impressed with both units.
Made tenting for macro very quick and easy.
Looks good. Produces good results, both Canon and Nikon.

Comments about Phoenix Phoenix SmartFlash RF46C Macro Ring Flash for Canon ETTL II with 55mm, 58mm, 62mm & 67mm Adapter Rings, Guide Number of 46 at ISO 100 feet:
I bought this unit because I did not have a ring flash and I wanted to try it and it was inexpensive. It works well, but the output is fairly weak so you must stand close to the subject and I often get red eye. Remember, this flash does not say that it is a "portrait" flash, so red eye is not their problem. I am happy with this flash, but you need one with a much large opening and one that will accept pro lenses if you plan to use it as a pro ring flash

Lights subject effectively for taking great macro shots. As the on camera flash leaves shadows from your subject this ring flash does not. The price is right too.

would work better with lens with smaller filters like 52mm I had to use an adapter up to 58mm and unless you zoom in you can see this product on the image but Im still happy with it

This is just what I expected. Great for macro and head shot style portraits, but not enough output for any thing more than a few feet away.

Well for the price it is what you would expect and nothing more. It's cheaply made out of flimsy plastic feels like a cheap macro flash. Not any where near the quality of the Canon but for the rare times I need a ring flash, does a better job than trying to use mono lights or an on camera flash.

This is an acceptable flash for the price. It is nice that it comes with several connection rings of different sizes. A red-eye reduction pre-flash mode would have been nice.

[...] this is a good macro flash as well as portrait flash. I would love it more if it came with a 77mm adaptor so that it would work with my L series lens. Otherwise I have to borrow my brother's cheeper lens that came with his rebel! if there is an adaptor for a 77mm please let me know! :)
