Because it folds up to compact size and circular, just like a white photographic screen, because of it's dimensions, 5 x 7 feet, it is naturally curved when unfolded, so it is VERY difficult to light properly and VERY wrinkled. This was a completely useless venture for me. The picture in the online ad seems to indicate that the screen is flat... it is NOT!!! It also does not stand alone and is very difficult to secure on a wall.
