A wonderful idea and materials are good, however, it does not support anything other than lightweight equipment. You are also limited to finding something to clamp it to.

I purchased this to assist in photographing small products on a studio tabletop. I find that a traditional tripod can get in the way when trying to get up close to small items, and I also wanted something that would help me get overhead shots of items lying flat on the studio table.
I don't think I will be able to get 100% overhead with this item, but it does make working in close quarters a bit easier.
The "ball head" is very small and does not have a huge range of motion, but given the application I think it will be just fine. I got this item for a good price and think it will be worth the investment.

I am a photographer but I bought this to support an Olympus Digital Audio Recorder. It has a wide ranging clamp that I used to attach to a music stand.
The recorder has a 1/4 x 20 mount, like most cameras. If it was used for a camera, I would guess that a point and shoot would be the practical limit
for weight. I'm very pleased with it.
