Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

it does what it is designed for.I wish canon will redesign it in a way that to be in line with the slave and bright sun light should not interfere with its functionality through IR transmission. It does bring the use of wireless flash many steps farther in terms of creativity and control.

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

I am really impressed with the quality and versatility of this product. I use it with two 420EX and it works out right. Now I have the chance to improve my light design combining this piece with different sources of light. Even the reduced range of the wireless system is not a major problem. This is a "must have" accessory for serious photographers.

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

The Speedlight Transmitter worked great without any set-up except for buying the battery. [...] A search on the web yielded a users manual in English, but I really didn't need it. I'm using it with 580 and 430 Canon Speedlights.

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

I love this thing, off camera flash photog has made my pictures so much better, a world of difference.
Easy to use, gets the job done
Not perfect dough .
In line sight with the camera and remote flash units is needed for reliable triggering,
In small spaces is a champ, outdoors not so much, specially with strong sun light.
Since I use ETTL most of the time, my ST-E2 goes where ever I go.
Helps low light conditions fast focusing too

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

It would have been nice to have this little hero work at greater distances and perform a little better at daylight, but I guess these are inherent limitations of the technology it utilizes - you'd get much more powerful and reliable equipment for such applications anyway. Overall - awesome product - LOVE it.

I purchased this item as a "grey" product. The manual unfortunately is in Japanese. However, I have had experience with wireless EOS flashes so everything is self-explanatory on the transmitter.

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

overall..i like it.
i've found that it's much more reliable indoors as apparently the infared beam can bounce off walls. outdoors, proper placement of the flash unit(s) is much more critical.

The only weak points of this controller is the distance and the fact that it has to be in line of sight for controlling the flashes. The controls are pretty simple and the TTL functions make up for the distance.

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

a great product, the downside to it is that you need to have a line of sight with the flashes, or you need to be close to them. the ability to adjust your lights right from your camera easily makes up for it though. I shoot a lot of skating, and these have helped decrease my set up time dramatically, because I don't have to worry about wires messing up the skaters a great product!

Comments about Canon Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 - Gray Market:

I use it to remotely trigger my 550ex which I locate at the side of the track some 10-15 metres from where I am. This way I get extra reach and ilumination the 100m bend while taking photos beyond the finish line.
Some of our athletic venues don't have very goodlights.
