Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 4 Channel, Radio Remote Control Set, with Transmitter and Receiver, Range of 90':

Received the unit and the transmitter internal 12 Volt battery was stone cold dead. Had to tear through the QC seal to remove the screw to get inside the unit. Replaced the battery and the unit worked properly only when mounted to my camera's hot shoe or when I press the "Test" button on top of the transmitter. The enclosed PC sync cord was defective as it has an open circuit. Replaced it with an identical unit (I had on hand) and now the unit fires my monolights intermittantly. The 1/8 inch phone jack (on the internal printed circuit board) either has a cold solder connection or is contacting the phone pin intermittantly.

I will be using this unit with the PC sync cord most of the time, so I need a reliable connection through the transmitter's phone jack and PC sync cord. If I was using the transmitter mounted to my camera's hot shoe all of the time, the only issue I would have with this unit is the dead battery right out of the box.

I WILL USE THIS PRODUCT FOR FAMILY GATHERINGS, QUINCEANERAS, WEDDINGS, PORTRAITS. I GOT IT IN TIME FOR MY NICE'S QUINCEANERA. WHAT A DIFFERENCE NOT DRAGGING CABLES AROUND. I HAVE TWO FLASHPOINT 320'S AND THEY WORKED FINE ALL NIGHT LONG FOR 325 FLASH SHOTS. QUINCEANERAS ARE THE HISPANIC EQUIVALENT OF A SWEET SIXTEEN. THE KIDS LOVED THE PICTURE TAKING WITH THE QUINCEANERA. FOR SHOTS AWAY FROM THE SET UP, JUST PULLED OFF THE TRANSMITTER, SLID THE FLASH AND SHOOT. I LOVED EVERYSHOT TAKEN, SOME SAY YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, BUT I BELIEVE I GOT MORE THAN WHAT PRICE I PAID FOR THIS GADGET. IT MAY NOT BE A POCKET WIZARD, BUT MY OLD BUICK TAKES BE TO WORK JUST AS WELL AS A MERCEDES!

Works great with the included receiver, but is not compatible with other Flashpoint receivers.

Also, the power cord is not at all compatible with Flashpoint's own strobe light. Had to scavenge a power cord from my computer to plug it in. Now requires 2 power cables to my strobes.

this set exceeded my expectations Vs. other products priced much higher then this.

only issue i have is that the "Flashpoint Radio Remote 4 Channel Receiver Only" FPRRS4R Shoe mount receiver will not work with the transmitter for this set. other then that minor annoyance this is a great product.

I used these to get me by as I was saving for better equipment. They did a great job in my studio. They were hooked up to photogenic powerlights and triggered flawlessly for the time they were being used. I'm in an area that doesn't have interference from other signals, so they worked great for me.

Super easy to setup, even easier to use. Plug them in and forget about them. Have yet to have a misfire while shooting. Can be a bit of a challenge while trying to use a light meter. You have to plug the transmitter into the PC socket of the light meter and carry both around. Other than that a great, inexpensive solution for a small studio.

Using the plug with the transmitter, plugged into the light meter and now I have a wireless light meter that also works every time.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 4 Channel, Radio Remote Control Set, with Transmitter and Receiver, Range of 90':

This just may be the best bang for the buck I've spent on photography in a long time. I really didn't expect much from this unit at this price. It was to be a replacement for the failing wireless system from Alien Bees. I plan on purchasing the Alien Bees Cyber Commander, but in almost 2 years the system still has come out. In the meantime, I've been using this system and have been amazed at how well it performs. It's very easy to set up, very well constructed, but most importantly it's never miss fired. With 90% of my work in a studio without other photographers, I don't think I'll be replacing it with the Cyber Commander after all. The only down side to this unit is a personal one, I just wish the sync and power cords on the receiver had 90 degree plugs instead of straight. But for what this unit has delivered in terms of ROI, I highly recommend it.

This set is great for setting off my studio flashes. I haven't pushed the range but they have never misfired from 40-50'. They are a really great alternative to the pocket wizard and a lot easier on the wallet. They don't have an on/off switch, but simply flicking the switch to change the channel does the trick.I like the test fire feature as well. Makes photo shoots run much smoother with no wires to trip over. Great for photographers on a budget.

These things are a great value. They work great and are only a fraction of the cost of Pocket Wizards. The only thing I didn't like is that the Web site says that the system requires a CR-123 battery that is NOT included. I went out and bought a $6 battery while waiting for mine to arrive. When I got them I opened the transmitter up to find that it already had a battery in it and that the system did not require the CR-123 but in turn it was a #23A battery that was needed and it comes with the system. I e-mailed them and it still states that the CR-123 is needed. Don't fall for this problem with the web site.

Good economical radio remote 110VAC only
By PaddlesteamerVerified Reviewer from Pacific Ocean somewhere off California on 8/17/2007
Best Uses:
Lighting
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint 4 Channel, Radio Remote Control Set, with Transmitter and Receiver, Range of 90':

while the description says "Receiver works off the AC power supplied to the monolight" it does not work off the 240 VAC supplied to my equipment, because it only works on 110VAC. That meant an unplanned addition of a stepdown transformer and a few more cables to trip over. A bit of a disappointment in the world of globalized products.
