Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor RTK4 4 Channel Radio Trigger Kit:

I had several sets of these that eventually exhausted. That was before that changed them to the four-channel. I would love to get my hands on the older models but for some strange reason they're nowhere to be found. Don't buy the new 4-channel -- they don't work! On a location shoot they will keep you upset, in a panic and looking like a fool. They ARE junk! [...] Smith-Victor seems to be content with you just owning a useless product.

This unit is sold under many different manufactures names. I wanted it for my Speedotron Black Line units. The identical unit other than stickers is listed by Speedotron for a lot more money. I have not used it for a long period of time, but will keep extra batteries per other reviews.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor RTK4 4 Channel Radio Trigger Kit:

This is a compact, light weight unit that is easy to use. It has a limited range but is perfect for product, portrait or even architectural shoots where you are close to your light units. The Transmitter uses a different battery (AA) than the Receiver(23A 12v) so keep extras with your kit.
One caution: the receiver is a clam shell design held together with a small screw that must be removed to change the 23A battery. The instructions on the blister package are comically useless having been written in China and translated into gobbldigok English. There is no explanation for the battery replacement for example. Mine came from the manufacture with the screw hole covered by the model sticker so I didn't know how it was held together. Thinking it was a snap together unit I broke the housing. Smith Victor replaced it for me after I tracked them down and complained but with a mailing cost and delay of course.

this was a very reasonably priced set and I have used it on location with my strobes and never a misfire-very reliable and extremely easy to use. I highly recommend them. I am glad I saved the money and did not go for the pocket wizards.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor RTK4 4 Channel Radio Trigger Kit:

I got this to replace the Flashpoint 4-channel trigger, which I thought was wireless but wasnt. I have used it on two photo shoots, indoor and outdoor and taken about 400 shots with it. It has misfired a few times, usually when I am adjusting my light stand. I use it with the Sunpak 383 flash and a Olympus E-500. I am very happy with it. The only "funky" thing about it is that I could barely get the batterys in it is so small.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor RTK4 4 Channel Radio Trigger Kit:

We use a set of four as remotes for on location. We got these because if we destroyed them, there wouldn't be a great financial loss. They turned out to be better than expected. They have one big drawback... if you get some, do not use rechargable batteries in them. It messes them up and they do not work properly with rechargables. However, standard alkaline work great. It's an amperage problem. But overall, they're great little units.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor RTK4 4 Channel Radio Trigger Kit:

Very inexpensive alternative for the Wein infrared system.
I was having a lot of problems with my infrared system and decided to change to Radio frequency transmnitter.
At first it looked like a little toy but it works fine, I tested it from far away, through walls, etc and worked all the time.
I'm very happy for this purchase because it was very affordable than other brands.
