I use this kit for home portrait use.
It has worked well for the low price.
The only disadvantage is the lights are low output and not variable.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor KF2U, 2 Light, AC Slave / Master Flash, Thrifty Umbrella Flash Kit:

The stands have some friction; you learn to humor them; let go here before you pull there. Aside from that, maybe I'm dumb, but I'm pretty ecstatic. After I evaluated one kit, I bought a second, because I mostly work on posed subjects in real settings. (I also sprang for 4 Smith-Victor white umbrellas, based on my good experience. The kit comes with silvered umbrellas.) These stands are good and solid. We'll see how long rivets and plastic last, but I haven't lost any sleep.

Daylight seems to swamp the slave sensors, so when I was using these for fill on my balcony they didn't slave. If you home-brew, a power-type N-Channel MOSFET will fire the slaves fine. By the way, Smith-Victor said the sync voltage was 12-15V, but I measured under 6; my meter probably loaded it down. The connectors on the heads are submini phone jacks, and the plugs are getting hard to find.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor KF2U, 2 Light, AC Slave / Master Flash, Thrifty Umbrella Flash Kit:

I bought this kit for my home studio. This kit is very portable and sets up fast for location shots. This is a great introductory flash kit - everything you need is included. Flash bulbs triggered automatically by my camera flash (no infrared/hotfoot needed, though I believe you can set up with them if you like). Would definitely recommend this to anyone who simply wants a basic flash kit for portrait photography.

Veru good reliable prodduct that does exactly what it says it does. Nothing fancy....justa a regular AC powered flash unit. Comes with sync coard but not with hot shoe adaptor if u need one.
