This works pretty well when no other options are available. However it is not a replacement for proper bounce flash techniques which generally yield the best results.

It seems to provide the best results when the built in wide angle flash adapter is folded down over the flash head, then place the omni bounce on the flash.

Used a Lumiquest pocket bouncer which is a lot bulkier before I got the Stofen with my D90. The Stofen lighting was much harsher than the Lumiquest no matter how I adjusted the camera or lighting settings or angle of my sb600 flash. Very unobtrusive and convenient and better than no diffuser at all.

i read several reviews on diffusers and thought this would be the best one on making the flash softer. while it may be beneficial for areas where you cannot bounce light, in a room that you can bounce, i would do w/o. it's not softer..almost think it's harsher. just my opinion though.

I just set and forget. It only takes a second to attach the Omni-Bounce and your ready to go. The result is photos with a general soft lighting (like a bounce flash.) I find that this soft lighting is flattering for group shots and portraits. It's like an available light photo, with perfect color balance.

Works exactly as promised, and as needed: it softens the light from your external flash and provides an even fill and distribution of light. I use this diffuser on my Nikon SB 600. What a difference. The images look more like available light / natural light was used instead of a "harsh" flash. This makes a huge difference at indoor parties / gatherings where available light is not sufficient. No complaints! Price, simplicity of use and consistent output are rock solid.

This works great for indoor use, but don't think of using it out-door or when you don't have walls/roof to bounce off.

Put two flashes on stands, direction upwards + this diffusor, and you have beautiful soft light for small groups/portraits.

I was amazed how well it works. I bought an off-brand one from a camera store in town that would slip off the flash. Had to use sandpaper to roughen it up so it wouldn't slip. Lost that one, bought this, and it works much better. Doesn't slip.

I have an SB800 and SB900 and have diffusers for each. When I bought my SB600 I needed one for it as well. I found other brands but most complained about poor fit. This one fits great. Very happy with the results. If you have an SB600, you need this diffuser.

This is super easy to put on your flash. It really seems to even out the lighting in most pictures. I'm still doing some tests with it. You can definitely shoot without it, but shooting with it (in the right condition) will improve the quality of lighting in your picture.

I just purchased this product, via Adorama, through a well-known site, along with the green and gold/amber diffusors made by Sto-fen. All of them work perfectly under the conditions for which each is suited. It is amazing how much softer the lighting is, and how the light is dispersed so much more evenly and wider with this diffusor. Playing around with the vertical/horizontal angles with the Nikon SB-600 Speedlight yields many interesting and fine lighting compositions in each picture. Nikon should really consider adding a few bucks to the SB-600 and include all three diffusors. For the hobbyist/enthusiast, it is a very simple and easy solution to creating a better picture both indoors and outdoors. I have even used it in macro photography and found these diffusors to lend a nice ambiance to the subject. Experiment, play with it; but, mostly just have fun with all the possibilities from such a simple piece of plastic.

These should come packaged by the manufacturer with each flash. Buy one for every flash you own. These always soften and diffuse the light, even when used behind an umbrella or with a reflector. The only time you wouldn't want it on your flash, I guess, is if you're going for a harder look.

i normally shoot using natural light, and i got this mainly for indoors and fill flash, and i am so happy with it. i debated whether to pay additional for sb800 but thought that with my needs, all i need is sb600. i can't shoot indoors without this anymore. i shoot in manual and with this, all my pictures turn out great. see samples of my work at [@] --- most of the recent shots there have used sb600.

I bought this diffuser for use in off camera flash situations, specifically when placing the flash behind portrait subjects to create a rear hair light/background light. This is a fantastic filter set for the money. It fits securely over the SB-600. I haven't worried about loosing it yet its also not difficult to remove. It offers a great overall filter to soften the light. I found it helpful to pay attention to the length of a shot... it does shorten the max distance of your flash.

I purchased this Omni Bounce ( OB from here on ) for my Nikon SB 600. I consider myself a knowledgable photographer. I wanted to give the OB a try in situations where bouncing was not available. Wanted to see how the OB would differ from using a bounce card. I have not tried any other on flash diffusers. Here are my opinions.
The Good:
Inexpensive - I purchased mine for less than $15.
Compact - Should fit most camera bags easily.
Easy to attach - Slip on, slip off. Stays put while on flash.
Softens Flash - Does diffuse flash so it's not so harsh ( more on this below )
The Not So Good:
Can't really say this is bad, just not what I hoped for. The OB was sold as a flash diffuser and it does exactly that. The problem is, for me at least, that the flash is diffused and at the same time directed in all directions. You loose the background shadow canceling bounce by having the OB diffuse the upward flash as well as the outward flash. Now this is only an issue if your subject has a light background behind them. Usually indoors. If you have a surface, preferably a light ceiling, to bounce off of, then that is going to be a better option. In my use of the OB indoors I have had nice soft even lit subjects but shadows on the background. Even using the BL mode on the flash. Much better results bouncing the flash without the OB. I was using the OB in the recommended position between 75 and 90 degrees, never head on.
That being said. In outdoor use, say as a fill flash in daylight, or in a large indoor space with no bounce surface the OB comes in handy. You can use the flash indirectly and still get light on your subject, thats not at all harsh. I think this is where the OB is most useful.
So, this is not going to be a miracle, every situation, flash tool. But in some situations it is worth the small amount you'll spend and the small amount of space it takes up in your bag. You will use it and get good results with some pracice.

I use this all the time on my bare flash unless i'm using a softbox or a diffusion screen or want harsher light. Always use it for events and anytime i need to travel light and can't bring all my lighting gear. I'd say this is a must have product.

Like everyone else has said, this is really a flimsy piece of plastic that is overpriced. I'm surprised Nikon doesn't include one with the SB-600. With that being said, I would pay it again if I ever lost or broke this one. It beats carrying an umbrella everywhere.

Everytime I take pictures, I bring a flash.
Everytime I have a flash, I bring a Sto-fen.

I have several of these in my kit. One for each flash that may be fired. They are an excellent, low cost, easy to use and durable light modifier. Gone are the days of overwhelming glare, if you can't bounce the light, pop on a sto-fen and shoot away.

This little cover has saved more pictures in more places than anything else I own. I would recommended it to anyone who uses a compatible flash. It's the lightest, smallest, most durable and praticle accessory you can buy to improve your pictures.

I found the SB-600 scratches easy (the screen, AF light cover) but other than that it is amazing. I would definitely recommend it to anyone (using Nikon).
Coupling the SB-600 with the SC-28/29 TTL cord can result in very creative shots that I wouldn't have been able to do before.

I use this product in all phases of my photography. It has all but eliminated red eye in my photographs, and softens and evens out the harsh light normally associated with flash photography. It works so well I never take it off my flash. It dosen't matter if I'm shooting a Wakeboarding event, a Dark Club, or a Models Portfolio. Indoors or out, I use it everytime I use a flash.

I purchased this to go with my SB-600 and I find that it says on my flash almost all the time. It is compact in size and it only protrudes from the flash about 3/4 of an inch. It is extremely lightweight and unobtrusive. I would highly recommend this item to go with any flash. A must have flash accessory!
