Comments about Sunpak Sunpak PZ42XC Digital Flash for Canon, with E-TTL II Flash Control Mode, Guide Number of 138 (ISO 100/feet), Black:

This is an awesome flash. Works great in auto TTL mode. I also love the manual mode power settings that go all the way down to 1/64th power. It has auto or manual telefocus, and the +- 1.5 EV power selection will brighten up far away dark areas. The head allows bounce both up and to the sides.
Pics are out of focus. Lens got bumped into manual focus.

Comments about Sunpak Sunpak PZ42XC Digital Flash for Canon, with E-TTL II Flash Control Mode, Guide Number of 138 (ISO 100/feet), Black:

Bought as backup to my Canon Speedlite 430EX II flash and have been very satisfied with performance and features. Cannot discern real-life differences in results from both. Very accurate exposures and fast cycling. Excellent as primary or slave unit. Have been quite happy with reliability of other Sunpak flash units purchased over many years.

I bought this for my G12. After fussing with it for a day, I could not get it to talk to the G12. Checked on the Sunpak website, and sure enough, the G10/G11/G12 were not on the list. My mistake, I should have checked first. I could get it to work in manual mode, and took some good test shots. I was impressed by the build quality and workmanship. Had to return it though. Docked them 2 stars because amateurs like me should not have to learn the hard way.

Comments about Sunpak Sunpak PZ42XC Digital Flash for Canon, with E-TTL II Flash Control Mode, Guide Number of 138 (ISO 100/feet), Black:

This is a great flash for the money. The recycle time is a little slow on this flash, especially when the batteries start to wear down. The flash is pretty efficient, easily letting me shoot nearly two thousand pictures on a single set of batteries. The flash is easy to use, delivers excellent light, and the swivel and tilt head allows me to bounce the light in a variety of different situations. I almost always use a diffuser or a reflector with my flash, sometimes both and the flash has always stayed cool with the diffuser on it, even after hours of use. This is a lot of flash for the money.

Comments about Sunpak Sunpak PZ42XC Digital Flash for Canon, with E-TTL II Flash Control Mode, Guide Number of 138 (ISO 100/feet), Black:

I've been shooting landscapes for 13 years, and
never really had the need for flash. I recently
started doing portrait shots for friends, and decided to go with a flash.
I didn't want to spend and arm and leg for a Canon 580, so upon reading alot of reviews on the Sunpak PZ-42C, I decided that was a great deal. It works great in the I-TTL mode with my Canon Rebel XT. It's also good in the Manual mode for setting the amount of flash you need. I like the fact you can bounce the flash from the cieling by tilting it up, or from a wall, by turing it to the left or right.
For someone just getting into flash Photography or a skilled pro that wants a great slave flash, this is a way to go. Keep up the great work Sunpak.

Comments about Sunpak Sunpak PZ42XC Digital Flash for Canon, with E-TTL II Flash Control Mode, Guide Number of 138 (ISO 100/feet), Black:

After my Canon EX became out of order I went for this third party flash as I had experience with several Sunpaks during film era and were functioning perfectly. Buying this I could save around $100. Sunpak PZ42XC functions superbly as I am using it with a Omni Bounce Softener. TTL is accurate! Not only Manual Power Ratio selection, A/F assist beam and communication with in-camera information, but Film/Digital selector is too provided. What else can you expect for the price you pay?
Only thing I don't like is the brightness and the color of Ready Lamp. It disturbs the eyes. I like if it was in Green.

This flash does just about everything that the higher priced Canon flashes do, but I'm still trying to find a little more brightness out of it for medium length shots at night. I'm still experimenting with its variety of settings in conjunction with the camera settings on my Canon T1I

Would buy this unit again! Great price compared to the much ,more expensive Canon Flashes.

I got this unit to avoid the much higher cost of Canon's own flash for my new Canon T1i, and it does a wonderful job. Recycling between flashes could be just a little quicker, but I'm already used to waiting a couple of extra seconds between shots. So far...I really have no complaints. It does what it's supposed to do consistently.

Comments about Sunpak Sunpak PZ42XC Digital Flash for Canon, with E-TTL II Flash Control Mode, Guide Number of 138 (ISO 100/feet), Black:

Although the statistics stated that this flash would work with Canons point and shoot models it failed to fire when used on my Canon, Pro 1, and my G-10. I have no idea how it might work other wise. I could charge it and fire it manually. If it is not intended for use with these cameras I misunderstood.

recycle time is great while batteries are fresh, seems to slow some as batteries weaken ( to be expected with any unit actually ). I wouldn't say it's light weight or really heavy, you certainly know it's there.

Purchased for use with Canon EOS XSi. Performs extremely well with the camera ETTL. Consistently excellent automatic exposures at various distances and focal lengths. Excellent value for price paid. Only negative is the Owner's Manual -- not very good.

I've used the Canon 580 II and the PZ42 matches it in every sense. At football games I get a longer light throw than with the Canon. At the same time it does a super job in auto mode when players are within 20 yards. The only flash that might beat it is the new Nikon with its auto function that goes all the way out to 200mm. For the money the Sunpak PZ42x is in a league of its own.
