Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint II 9" x 36", 22cm x 90cm, Softbox for all Model II Monolights.:
I couldn't ask for a more simple and inexpensive
softbox. It's kind of difficult to put it together at first, but if you own other softboxes you'll figure out without a manual.
At this price I can afford more than one.
I'm happy with it.

Sending it back; no assembly instructions at all!
Also, the parts I got did not match the parts in the photos! The tension rods for the soft box were slightly different, the ends were different.

The first time setting it up was tough, because the rods have not been bent before , and they need to be formed to shape, the first time setting it up was 1/2 hour, and some sore muscles. But i have set it up and tore it down a dozen or more times,after the first time it went together in 5 minutes, now i can put it together in 3.5 minutes !
I use it as a hair light and kicker light only.If you think it only lights up an atom, maybe your main light over powers this light too much. try this box with 300ws or higher.
The Elinchrom boxes that come with the D Light kits
are thin material, but these are stronger.

This product produces a very soft light. It is very easy to use. My first attempt to put it together took me about 20 minutes. The rods are flexible and strong. After a couple of times it now take about five minutes to put together. No manual but it comes with a storage bag. The key to putting the last rod in the ring is strength and leverage.

This thing is a real piece. I mean, it was inexpensive as hell, but apparently with good reason. It's the hardest to put together softbox I've ever touched. When you do finally get it together (if putting together doesn't land you in the ER), the fabric doesn't even want to stretch over the back of the poll to velcro shut. I had to use gaff tape to keep it shut. Then when you get all that taken care of, you try it out and realize it's to small and too focused for anything except photographing electrons or obama's brain or something along those lines. If you're at all interested in getting nice, soft, even light on your subject, just click the back button and go look at the Chimeras or the Larsens. I'm on a budget, just like you. I love the Flashpoint II monolights, and I totally recommend them, but don't bother with some of this other flashpoint stuff. Just save up you're money and get the tried and true stuff this time.
