The colapsable ring opens very quickly and it's a fairly thick ring. Hold it away from your face because it could do some damage to a nose!! Otherwise the product is wonderful. I am an "outdoor" photographer and was looking for something colopasable to haul long distances when on location. This reflector is perfect for that.
