I bought this pair because I was getting my first lighting setup and went cheap. I went wrong. After 2 months of moderate use the umbrella has broken and the swivel completely fell of my light stand. My swivel never was tight with my flash and I was always worried. Just a hint of wind will destroy both the Umbrella and Swivel. I recently ordered a $15 swivel and a $20 umbrella and it is much better.

I do commercial photography, PR portraits, group photos, staged scenes. This is a great little kit, stick it on a light stand or tripod (it has a standard mount adapter) and you has a nice little diffuser. All this for $15. This kit will be my fill to compliment a 33" silver reflector. It will also come out for tight spots, bathrooms, cubicals, and the like.

They were on sale for such a cheap price I couldn't resist. They are as good as I had hoped they would be. I use them on my highly modified photo stand to digital photo my film based photo's.

Bought two of these on sale for [$] a pair. the holders are great and I replaced the small umbrellas with two 32" satin with black covers, which do a great job. Combination is light and portable.

I got a set of 2 with small umbrellas. Mounted on the usual tripod in combination with a slave flash triggered from the main one it had created all supplemental light I needed for the professional looking portraits.

It gets you a portable professional portrait light setup in minutes for no cost worth mentioning compared to what you pay for this kind of equipment usually.

I am using this for a portable setup. It holds what I've asked it to and works just fine. Is it something that you would use in the studio when you have other heavier duty gear, probably not, BUT it serves the purpose for what it is designed. I have found that because it is so long in the shoe, that it is best to tighten it and then push the unit into a wedge type fit.

Will not hold foot securely. Plastic threads stripped and my SB900 fell to the floor. This is not suitable for large strobes.

This product will not hold my sb600 Nikon flash. My flash fell off and pieces went flying! Now I wrap a velcro piece around the base to hold the flash in securely. (my sb600 can take a beating!) That said it works great with that addition. Umbrella gives nice diffusion and professional look to your flash photos.

Great for on location lighting! Works for wedding, portrait, product shoots. Easy set up. Like the fact that the jaws clamp my Speedlight and hold it in place...nothing ruins your day faster than a dropped strobe! Only downside is adjusting screw is a bit rough on the fingers while tightening. Great value, compact, and easy to transport.

Getting the flash to stay on this clamp design is difficult. I use an rf receiver with this ALL the time so I mounted the receiver semi-permanently with a pair of pliers. "Finger tight" isn't enough to securely mount the flash (or receiver). That being said...I just leave the receiver on the mount and then mount the flash to that, which works fine for my purposes. If you are going to take the flash on and off the mount be prepared to carry pliers with you. This is not professional gear...but hey, it's cheap! If you are thinking about buying this because it comes with an umbrella...don't. The first thing you will want next is a larger umbrella. The 2o" umbrella is interesting and highly portable (you can even use it hand held in a small space, if you don't mind looking like Mary Poppins) and it may work for quick product photography but it's less than ideal for "formal" portraiture.

I like it, and works well. I think I like the one from Impact a little better. The large surface where the shoe mounts can get the hotshoe a little loose if moving your light stand around.

It will not hold an Sb-800 flash safely. You can tighted the pin that holds closes the hot-shoe clamp with all your might, untill your fingers go red and it still will not hold the flash in place. The flash will simply slide out. The hot shoe foot doesn't marry neatly with the grooved track on the clamp so the flash can only sit at the very end of the track. If you put it in the middle of the track the grooves don't grab the recessed area of the hot shoe foot at all. It is a bad design and I am returning mine.

This swivel is lightweight and compact. I like that the contacts on my flash units do not contact the swivel. The other adorama swivel has a quick release lever but this one is much more compact and packable.
