This umbrella is a good quality product that gives the flexibility of bounce or shoot through with the removeable black cover. I haven't tried but I would think this umbrella might not work real well for shoot through using speedilites. The silver inner lining is pretty reflective for bounce but might inhibit too much light for shoot through unless using a decent watt second strobe.

This is a great umbrella at a good price. I thought the stem on the umbrella was a little long if you want to get it close to the subject.

i use this in place of my softbox sometimes as it is not always convenient to carry around a softbox and this size umbrella distributes the light evenly over my subject.

My first Photogenic 60" umbrella lasted 5 years of heavy wedding use. Finally a rib broke. This replacement is identical, I think. Only caveat was that it arrived with a slight bow to the umbrella shaft that slides into the umbrella fixture on the strobe light. The shipping box was in perfect shape and the sealed package around the umbrella was in perfect shape. I thought that perhaps Photogenic designed in the bow to compensate for the center of the umbrella not being in the center of the light beam because the shaft will always be offset a few inches above or below the light. Photogenic website shows a straight shaft. So, is this a feature? It works as well as my other one before it broke.

The shaft of the umbrella is just pressed into place. I pulled two of them apart just by removing them from the package.
