The reflective surface and my Speedlight Flash produces diffuse light source near to daylight. They are very collapsable and portable. They are a cut above imported umbrellas for a very affordable price.

Confused about this one

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

If you look at the picture of this umbrella model #2002 on [@], you'll see that the reflective side of the umbrella has 4 panels of specular silver material and three panels of satin white material. [...] Just like what the others have said: it's more like a gray card than a soft silver. I did not get what was advertised, unless there are two models of the same manufacturer part #2002, one that Westcott makes and the other that Adorama makes (but with Westcott's name on the product). I'm confused. To be fair, the picture on Adorama.com did show a solid grayish fabric, but I figured the photo was a mistake since the manufacturer part # was the same. Goes to show, one has to inquiry about every detail. Other than this umbrella, everything else I bought from Adorama was what I expected.

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

I bought this because it's short when collapsed, but it's held open by a cheap plastic spring loaded clip that was broken when I received it. In general, it's not robust and I doubt it would last very long even with careful use. It's grey rather than silver, as other reviews have noted. I returned it because of the defective clip (and Adorama made that very easy -- thank you!). I ended up with an umbrella that costs twice as much but is much better built.

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

The plastic catch to hold the umbrella open was defective on mine. I was reluctant to go through the hassle of a return, so I'm using a clamp!

Probably will upgrade for my next one.

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

My only complaint is that the stem is hexagonal and was larger than the hole on my ProMaster universal swivel head. I solved that with a drill.

This collapsible umbrella is not silver but grey. It's reflectance power is very poor. It doesn't correspond to your add. I never use it. My money was wasted !

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

Learned about this umbrella through the strobist blog site and purchased it after seeing so many fastastic examples of one light images.

Adoroma was the only place who had inventory on hand, I was a bit concerned that it was on both sides and not black on the outside like the ones pictured on B&H or the strobist site so I had to verify the product number before ordering.

The umbrella was everything that I expected and worked wonderfully, very easy to set up, set down, folds neatly and very easily, and the light is perfect, not as soft as a white, but knowing how to use it is up to you.

Don't bother with soft silver
By RalphVerified Reviewer from Chicago IL on 7/9/2007
Pros:
Small compact size
Cons:
Way too dark, Weak
Describe Yourself:
Professional
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

This model is great if you need a large circular gray card, but it simply isn't reflective enough to be useful. When using an umbrella with a portable strobe, you need all the light you can get, and this does not provide nearly enough. If it weren't so cheap I would send mine back.

Nicely difused light, compact.
By vdngo from Houston, TX on 11/1/2006
Pros:
Attach Securely, Light compact
Best Uses:
General Use, Indoors, Wedding group shots

Comments about Westcott Westcott 43" Soft Silver Collapsible Umbrella:

Very nicely difused light shot through or bounced. Use this on group shots or portrait indoor to get near perfect light with very soft shadow. I'm ordering another one for backup as well as for Really Large wedding group shots.
