My initial fears of its cheap and junky features (plastic mount, trashy battery door) were irrelevant. The flash worked fine when tested, but the first time I actually used it, it didn't even turn on. I was still in the 30 day return period, but I made the idiotic decision of exchange as opposed to return. The second flash did exactly the same - worked once, then - NOTHING.
Now I am out of the return period and am at the mercy of Vivitar (who aren't what they used to be) and their crack warranty/repair Dept. Lord help me!

Received this flash and after using it twice, it stopped working. Returned to Vivitar for replacement/repair in August of 2010 - have made several phone calls and emails in an attempt to have my flash returned to me. They keep promising me they will get it to me but it is January of 2011 and I haven't seen it yet.I have a Vivitar 285 that works fine, but I think I will be selling it on [@] as I do not want to own and will never buy another Vivitar product. I guess you DO get what you pay for.

had to return for a replacement because first unit worked for only 20-30 flashes and then died.Replacement unit seems OK; hope so because the unit serves multiple flash situations. [...]

A great value for the cost. This is a good bounce flash for someone just starting to explore more advanced photography or a more experienced user who wants to save money. This flash is a good buy.

Great product for the cheap price it is at. Best part is the way it rotates side-to-side, but also up-and-down. Not very many customizable settings, but has good consistent output and is very useful. Recycles somewhat slow, but can do about 4-5 pics in succession with 1 single recycle. Overall, pretty good product.

Very good and versatile. Pros of having the ability to rotate the head to bounce the flash.
