I know there are cheaper ways to do what Steadepod does, but this comes in a sleek package. The tension cord locks and unlocks at the desired length, rolls neatly back into its case much like a vacuum cord, and is fairly unassuming.
After a miserable experience awkwardly lugging my 3 1/2 pound tripod on a 18-hour mountain scrambling trip along with all my other gear, I needed another solution. I'm going on a 5-day backpacking trip this weekend, and I'll be taking Steadepod this time. Won't be as good as a tripod, but beats nothing at all.

Actually, I only tried to use it once, it did not stay in my belt loop, so I could not use it. I was in a hurry, and did not really have the time to try and get it tight.
I gave it a 5 because a far as I saw, it did what it said.
When I take the time to put it on, I'll send another review. I was iln too much of hurry.

Comments about SteadePod SteadePod Camera Stabilizer for Still or Video Cameras:
As simple as this product is as creative and useful it is. As soon as I received it, I decided to make a test to see whether it does what it supposes to, and as you can see from the test picture, it really works! The shot on the left was taken with SteadePod mounted, and the shake is much less than the one on the right. I used my 24-70mm lens, set at ISO 100, exposure 1/10 second, aperture f/3.5 in a low light room. This is the very first shot with SteadePod, and I believe with further usage the result will be remarkable.
First test result of Steadepod

Go to the hardware store. Buy a 1/4"-20 eye bolt and 5 feet of nylon rope. Tie the rope to the eye bolt, thread the bolt into the tripod socket, step on the rope. It gives you the same functionality for about one-twelfth of the price.

It's an OK product in a pinch when you don't want to carry a tripod but I believe leaning against a tree, building or another structure to be just as good

Comments about SteadePod SteadePod Camera Stabilizer for Still or Video Cameras:
I have found that the Steadepod helps provide great stability when you don't want to carry or are prohibited from using a tripod. It is very portable, lightweight, and easy to use. The cable adjusts to any height that you need. Also, the ability to hook it onto your belt provides a greated range of movement, without having to extend it to place your foot on it. It fits in your pocket and can be ready quickly. You can leave it attached to your camera and it is unobtrusive when not in use. It adds stability at a low price, but is solidly built. I use it often and it has been a great addition to my camera equipment. I highly recommend it.

Comments about SteadePod SteadePod Camera Stabilizer for Still or Video Cameras:
I was very very hesitate about this item, one of those to good to be true, but I was wrong. Becuase of medical reasons I shake, I camera adjusts for some of it, but not all. I hate having to pull out a tripod everytime I want to take a shot with a zoom lens or a night shot. So when I saw this I thought it would be perfect, it did take a little bit of working with to figure it out, but once I did, it did exactly what I needed. Glad I didn't listen to the to good to be true

Such a simple item, but yet very useful. Does the job of holding camera fairly steady without tripod.

Comments about SteadePod SteadePod Camera Stabilizer for Still or Video Cameras:
The SteadePod is compact, discrete and cheap. However it's NOT a replacement for a tripod, or even a good monopod. It can be somewhat helpful (slightly better than nothing) when it isn't possible to use a tripod or monopod... for example in museums or other places where a tripod or monopod is banned or frowned upon. Although, you just might attract attention for your odd behavior. It's also rather awkward to use with only two hands... release, unroll, place under foot, extend, lock, etc. All 'n all, a clever idea that looks better on paper than in practice.
