The Monostat with its stabilizing foot is a huge improvement over the standard monopod. It allows for panning with moving subjects such as wildlife and improves the stability of big lenses on a monopod. I choose the metal model as opposed to the more expensive carbon fiber because there was only .1 lb difference in weight.
