This won't replace your heavy duty tripod, but for portability and quick set up it can't be beat. Especially good for those times when you're not allowed to use a tripod and need a quick picture.

Only downside is that it's not super stable so for night shots and long exposures you have to be sure that you don't get in a hurry and let the camera have time to stablize.

Comments about Trek-Tech Trek-Tech TrekPod II, Multi-purpose Tripod System with Walking Staff, Monopod & Tripod, & MagMount Quick Release:

Works fine as a walking stick. Immediately available as a monopod.
The rubber feet probably won't last long.
The magnetic attachment for the camera or tripod collar works just great, at least for my D70 w /18-200 lens.

Comments about Trek-Tech Trek-Tech TrekPod II, Multi-purpose Tripod System with Walking Staff, Monopod & Tripod, & MagMount Quick Release:

I'm an amateur photographer and received my Trek-pod II in time for my last vacation. Although the tri-pod legs are not adjustable, the mag-mount could be adjusted to compensate for slight uneven/sloped surfaces. It was so much lighter and quicker to use than my old tri-pod. Plus it's a great Hiking Staff so you don't have to carry both. This is just the tool I had been looking for. Light weight, stable, quick and easy to use, loved the mag-mount. My only objection is I had to use the travel bag as it wouldn't fit into my suitcase.

Is what I was looking for in a monopod and the three legs opening at the bottom is just a plus. Use with my 40D from 17/30 wide angle zoom to 70/300IS Canon zoom and in the middle a heavy 150 Macro. Holds them all but use the heavy magnet along with the clip. It will get much use in the future.

Comments about Trek-Tech Trek-Tech TrekPod II, Multi-purpose Tripod System with Walking Staff, Monopod & Tripod, & MagMount Quick Release:

An adequate compromise for outdoor photography. The magmount is very handy, quick to attach camera to monopod / tripod. But short thread section on adapter can back off camera. I dropped the adapter in underbrush the first time I used it in the field. The tripod legs are not adjustable, limiting use on steeply sloping ground. In those situations, use as a monopod.

Robust velcro straps hold the tripod legs together while using as a hiking staff. But the twist locks slip and the staff sections can collapse when you really put pressure on the staff while crossing streams or difficult areas.
