It's great to have spare mounting plates for quick and secure changes of Acra style quick release plates, panoramic heads, etc. This plate makes use of an excellent and convenient safety catch to prevent dropping your camera. And the ability to rotate the position of the plate in 90 degree increments is very useful. Spare qiick release plates are great and inexpensive items for increasing the flexibility and convenience of the superb Gitzo tripod head that they fit. I use this product with cameras as large as a Mamiya RZ67, and it handles the weight very securely, even with the camera pointed straight down.
