This L arm, together with the Q base, rapidly and securely attaches cameras. Switching from landscape to portrait views is quick and effortless. No chance of dropping a camera, as only one hand is needed to operate the release, and the L arm snaps into place with a satisfying click. Rigid and ideal even for long time exposures. Once attached, nothing moves.

My only complaint is that the screw for attaching the camera is mounted in a keyhole shaped slot. To keep the screw from dropping through the large end of the opening, the manufacturer uses a cyclinder of foam rubber. Not only is this cheap, but is likely to be lost or deformed and torn through use. A better method of screw retention should have been part of the design. By the way, I found out that a quarter is a better tool for atttaching the base to the camera than a screwdriver, which tends to scar the screw slot.
