Comments about Cullmann Cullmann High Load Magnesit Ball Head 25 - (3.5" High) Supports 27.0 lbs:
I picked this model over the 30 and 35 as well as various other makes such as Giottos, etc. when I researched ball heads for my compact digital and vintage 35mm needs. The "alpha" models from Arca, Markins, Kirk, RRS, etc. were simply overkill for my kit. The reviews I'd read on the Mag 25 were spot on. This is an extremely well built quality head at a price 10 to 20% less than plus a heavier load capacity than the competition.
Leaving the ball loose it is effortless to spin the mount platform to secure a camera. I had originally considered adding a QR assembly (Giottos MH-652 looked to be the best bet) but now feel that it wouldn't add any real speed and the weight offsets the minor convenience issues. So with the moderate lightweight tripod legs I'm using I have a solid-steady reliable 6.5 lb support system!

Works well with the Gitzo 1541 tripod.

The rubber top lets the camera wiggle a little bit, over all a good product… I do have a big and expansive ball head, but I needed something light and small for travel to Europe.
