Comments about Cullmann Cullmann High Load Magnesit Ball Head 30 - (4.25" High) Supports 44.0 lbs:
Changed the round mounting plate for an Arca-Swiss type quick release, which took about 30 seconds. Used the reducer bushing which came with the Cullmann head to mount it on my Manfrotto tripod, and it functions like a world beater at a very reasonable price. Very impressed with the quality of the Cullmann, as it is very well made and a joy to use. As much as I try to buy American, could not find anything from the USA like the Cullmann, for the price.

Comments about Cullmann Cullmann High Load Magnesit Ball Head 30 - (4.25" High) Supports 44.0 lbs:
This ballhead is extremely smooth and is able to hold an almost 2 lb lens even when it is UNLOCKED -- if you set the friction control to almost max friction. Locked, it holds the lens very very tightly (no movement).
The one problem is that it is large. In fact my Manfrotto RC2 quick connect assembly DID NOT fit on this properly. A different quick connect assembly is required.

Comments about Cullmann Cullmann High Load Magnesit Ball Head 30 - (4.25" High) Supports 44.0 lbs:
I have mounted this ball head on a Feisol CM-1471 monopod to support a Nikon 200-400 f/4 lens. They work great together. In fact, they are probably overkill for this 7-lb lens. The Magnesit 30 is rated for 44 lbs and is extremely sturdy. The friction adjusts over a wide range and works very smoothly.
The only problem I had was in getting the friction knob to turn initially; it just took a strong CW twist to free it up. After that, it has functioned great.
