Good product for the price. At times the head needs readjusting - could be because I did not tighten ball joint lock enough.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
The first one I bought was fantastic and still kicking. The second one I bought broke after very little use; the screw that secures the pano rotation of the head fell out and appears to have been epoxied in - the threads didn't strip, it appears to have just not been properly machined. Very disappointed.

I bought this to go along with the Flashpoint Carbon Fiber F-1228. It is a perfect combination. Easy to use, strong for my DSLR and heavy lenses. So far have used outdoors in freezing New England weather!!
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
When I first opened the ball head I was very surprised at how small and lightweight it was. But after using it I really found out that lightweight doesn't mean wimpy, it stood up to some very difficult camera positions and did not fail. I would love to see the knobs below but larger than they are but they can be worked with. I have enjoyed working with this head and think it will bring me great pleasure to work with it in the future.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
OK this was my first ball head I have ever purchased. Not knowing anything about them I did some research and found this one to try. Not the cheapest ball head and certainly not the most expensive one either.
The ball head does hold my camera securely. I think you do have to tighten down the adjustment knobs with quite a bit of force though. If you want to have your camera be at a certain level, start with the camera a little high and set the knobs. After they are secure it seems that the ball "settles in" and then won't move. Not sure if this is normal or not for a ball head but not really a big deal if you ask me.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
The Ball Head meets my expectations, its 11 lbs rating is within the limits of the equipment I anticipate using. I selected the F-2 over the F9 because the F-2 has a degree scale for rotating incorporated and I wanted that for panorama shots. My only negative comment is that a little of the lubricating oil leaked out from between the baseplate and ball body, it is very viscous and difficult to get off.

Very easy to operate. The quick release is firm.
Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
This is a very nice tripod head that feels quite sturdy once it is set. My only complaint is a very small amount of movement (droop) after you lock the ball in place and allow the weight of cam/lens to be supported by the tripod.

Use with U-104 Monopod. I'm very pleased with the low cost combination. Holds a Canon 7D with zoom lens, very firm, easy to adjust. Definitely would recommend

Even if you have a lot of money to spend on a Ball Head, this is one of the best you can buy! Don't let its small size fool you, it can support a heavy zoom lens. It is fast and easy to use. At under $60 this is an amazing Ball Head!!

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
This is my first ball head. I purchased this with the Flashpoint F1228. The two work well together. I rate this 3 stars becasue I think it does -- and adequatly -- what it is intened to do, but nothing above and beyond. The carry case for the Flashpoint F1228 is a bit small and the tripod and attached ballhead barely fit, but they do. The ballhead offers a a dynamic range of positions and easily. There is a quick release.

I use this product mainly for long exposure photography but I use it for the occasional panorama as well. For the budget minded photographer (no matter who you are) this is a great tripod head.

Works with up to my DSLR with 70-200 L.Only thing I don't like it's quick release button pushes in with thimble screwed out as well. Would have preferred a quick release lever action.

This tripod head is an excellent choice for a photo enthusiast. I called Adorama customer support and they were able to assist me in what I specifally needed for my Nikon D90 and my Nikkor 18-200mm lens. The FPTPF1128 tripod, the FPTH2 tripod head and bag(both the tripod and head fit in the bag) are exactly what I needed and could not be more pleased with the quality [...]

This will hold the equipment I need on the tripod with some weight to spare. Quick-release will work well when I don't need the use of the tripod.

I purchased this with the Flashpoint tripod. I found it easily supports my Canon 30D with Sigma 70-200 f2.8 lens and 2x extender. This is a well made device. My other tripods have been permanently replaced with this purchase.

Follow up to my post about the camera plate being loose. Helen Oster and the Adorama service folks suggested that the d70s camera body threads may not be deep enough, so the camera plate screw hits the end and can't tighten sufficiently. They were right. I fixed this by removing the screw and adding a small washer between screw and camera plate. That was enough - the screw now doesn't "bottom out", and can be tightened so that the camera plate connection is very solid.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
The ballhead is compact and strong, with fairly smooth movement. It holds position well, and the clamp itself locks down tightly. It will accept arca style plates, but only with an approximate fit, so significant care must be taken to be sure the plate is locked down. The plate however is a disappointment. On my D70s the plate does not lock down solidly. Even after cranking down the screw, the plate can be twisted by hand, and the camera plus lens will droop badly on vertical shots. Overall, the head itself is a gem and great value. If the plate can't be stabilized, I'll sadly have to return it.

Comments about Flashpoint Flashpoint F-2 Magnesium Alloy Tripod Ball Head with Quick Release, Supports 11 lbs.:
It may be lame, but my ONLY complaint is that the camera mount should have had more rubber or cork on the surface. It held tight to my Pentax K10D, but would not grip the slicker surface of the BG2 battery grip. So, I had to choose between either the grip or the ball head.

I got this to mount an Olympus E-420 on a monopod, and it works very well. I have nothing but good things to say about it. However, it was a salesman advising me of the existence of it that prompted me to buy it, and he didn't mention the F1; I'd have gotten that instead if I'd known of it, simply because it's a bit lighter, and I'll never be putting any non-trivial load on it. But that's not a complaint - it's fine.

Small enough to carry in a pocket but strong enough to support a Canon XSi with a 28x135 zoom. Excellent match for the F-2560 monopod.

I have the F2 Ballhead on a Flashpoint Carbon Fiber Monopod and it makes a great combination to use with my Nikon D50 and 75-300 VR lens. It is light but yet very solid.

THIS BALL HEAD COULD BE MORE STABLE AND MORE HEAVY DUTY. IT IS PROBABLY FINE FOR LIGHTER CAMERAS AND LENSES. I WOULD NOT WANT TO USE IT WITH A RIG OF ANYWHERE NEAR 11 LBS.
