This is a very sturdy head (supports my 70-400G with A700, V-grip and 2x with no problem) with a nice range of motion. Very large knobs for easy tightening. Very nice head but also very heavy.

Impressive quality and ease of use makes this ball head a winner! It firmly holds my Nikon D300 with the extra battery & SB600 flash without a hint of movement. I especially like the rapid adjustments I can make to get into a new shooting position. Smooth operation, surfaces and great fit and finish. If there is a negative the worst I could say is: the slider locking plate that mounts onto the camera is a tight fit into its mounting point on the head, but it's not a big deal. When everything is locked down it does give one a sense of security knowing the camera is secure on the head and has no chance of falling off!

Very positive in outdoor use for macro work. I use Kirk fixing plates and you need to remove the safety lock pin, just unscrews. However the jaws are a very tight fit for location as the plate has to be slid in, they will not open sufficiently to allow the plate to drop in between the jaws. Just one more thread would have allowed this, great pity as this is a simple engineering problem. Otherwise very pleased.
