This ballhead is perfect for my Olympus SP-560UZ on my Manfrotto 676B monopod. With the lens at 400+mm, hand-holding is impossible, but this ballhead/monopod combination gives me flexibility and stability for great shots from the stands at soccer games and cross-country events. It's so good I bought the same equipment for my brother.

I shoot a lot of pictures on the fly and with this ballhead, I can move the camera around quickly and lock it in place easily. With heavier cameras you have to be careful when loosening the ballhead. You should hold the camera firmly while loosening or else gravity will have its way and then "clunk!". I'm satisfied, though it might seem a little pricey, it's solid.

Excellent product - not up for discussion or debate. Rock solid, stable in the wind or at low surface angle, and quality build. However, those traits also bring one negative, the weight. I would still take it backpacking on a short trip, but I would not take it on an extended trip. Such as with anything, there is always a trade off. Buy it.

I bought it esp. for my brand new Gorillapod SLR Zoom. They both make a perfect lightweight combination for medium heavy cameras. Comparable: Slik SBH-120
