They say grip action ball heads are the best tripod heads to get. This tripod head is a great value for an extra mounting plate w/ it (in case you're using multiple cameras.) I used it with a Canon T2i and a 100mm f/2.8 macro (600g, heavier than the camera!!) I had no problems with the ballhead panning down under the weight of the lens. It has great flexibility and is a great investment in your photography equipment!
