I bought this in Germany in 1996 and have used it extensively since then. Most often with a Nikon D300 with battery grip and a 70-2000 f2.8 lens, but the head can take significantly heavier lenses. I started out with Novoflex quick-release but have now moved on to RSS' clamp on top of this for the best of both worlds (for me at least). Would definitely recommend this one. If you only are shooting with smaller lenses, there are smaller versions of this ballhead.

I use all of the range of Novoflex heads,small heads for small and digital cameras large heads for medeium format it can handle my hassy with all my lenses from 40mm to 150mm with no problem.
I will buy a new one if I get a chance and a good price.
