Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor BH2 Metal Alloy Ball Head with Quick Release Plate, 18 lb. Capacity:
I have been using a Smith Victor BH2 for a two weeks and I tried still life, portraiture and landscape. It is a quit little thing which now attaching to my compact tripod all the time now. However like anything in photog world,it is not flawless. Some coating on a adjustment screw is breaking off and the quick release system does not match Arch Swiss plate. Plus like most ball heads, still life is not its specialist. After all, if you are trying to get a tripod head for travel or portraiture, go grab one of this.

Comments about Smith-Victor Smith Victor BH2 Metal Alloy Ball Head with Quick Release Plate, 18 lb. Capacity:
It's small so you can take it w/you for longer trips/hikes. It takes less room. Easily fits in my Alta 264at's bag (highly recommend it btw)
Rated to 18 lbs which is more than enough for an average dslr w/an average lens. Check your cam and lens weight but my 7D and 15-85mm isn't even half of the head's limit. I tried with the 70-300IS too and so far so good and the cherry on top is the price... It's a great value. If you don't mind the more weight get the BH5 or BH8.

This ball head is a good head for the price. While it is not as sturdy or smooth as a $200 unit, it is worth every cent you pay.
