Comments about Slik Slik SH-705E Medium-Duty 3-Way Pan Tripod Head with Quick Release, Capacity: 9.9 lbs.:

I have no complaints about the PRO 700 DX tripod, but this attached pan and tilt head needs improvement. When the handles are loosened enough to allow movement of the head, the handles are loose and floppy in their threads. Combine the loose handles with the binding or stiction of the movements and I find this head is nearly unusable for precise adjustments, such as in macro or astro photography. It works OK for normal photography, but the problems are still noticeable; for precise adjustment the problems really frustrate me. I think I would rather recommend a good ball head to a friend.

Comments about Slik Slik SH-705E Medium-Duty 3-Way Pan Tripod Head with Quick Release, Capacity: 9.9 lbs.:

This is the sturdiest and most heavy-duty tripod I have found at this price-point. I use this with my Canon 40D for studio portraits and I have been extremely happy with the build quality of this tripod. Weight isn't an issue for me most of the time, but if it's an issue for you, you might want to look at more portable models. I wouldn't want to truck this around in my pack, but for studio shots and some location photography, this is awesome. The head is pretty decent, but it lacks any type of leveling device, so you are on your own to try and guess. This isn't a huge drawback, but it's a nice feature that even the [...]cheap-o tripods offer. The bright side is that SLIK has a pretty wide range of heads to choose from if you want to upgrade.All-in-all, this is a great tripod for any photographer wanting a professional level tripod at an affordable price.

This is the same head I had before, but broke. this is an acceptable head for my use as I don't use my tripod all the time. Would not reccomend for heavy use. Clamps are not the strongest, but are not weak by any means.
