Comments about Adorama Adorama "King" 8-section Tripod with Geared Center Column and 3-Way Panhead:

I bought this because it is lightweight and very inexpensive. I thought it would be good to travel with. i should have known better. It is extremely unstable. The legs don't always stay open-totally unreliable. It might be usable with my point-and-shoot camera, but not my DSLR. I would send it back[...]

It's an [$] tripod!!I didn't expect an amazing tripod. I needed something to pack in the motorcycle that wasn't to big or heavy. This fits the bill.It holds my Rebel XTi, but strains under the weight. It has a death wobble if you touch the camera.HOWEVER...with a shutter release or time delay release it will do the trick. If you need a steady tripod this is NOT it, but it's [$]!! What do you xpect.

Comments about Adorama Adorama "King" 8-section Tripod with Geared Center Column and 3-Way Panhead:

I love that this tripod can fit in my purse when it is folded up. I love that it can be set up in seconds. But there are two things that took some figuring out. One is you have to tighten the legs at the top by turning them to get them to lock in an open position. There's no documentation that says this, and it took a few tries to figure out how to make it stay upright. The other is if the camera is not mounted on it just so, it ends up at a tilt- until you get it on there right, your shots will not be level. It could also be a little more stable- I worry it might fall over in high winds. All in all though, it is my first tripod and I am pretty happy with it. It does what I need it to do. A good buy for the money.

Don't even think about using this tripod without a release cord - it is very shaky. The head feels very weak, small and not inspiring for serious shots at all. Yes it very small and lightweightб but...

Comments about Adorama Adorama "King" 8-section Tripod with Geared Center Column and 3-Way Panhead:

Purchased in hopes of a reasonably-durable tripod I could take backpacking without weighing down my pack or punishing my wallet. For [$], I'm very pleased thus far. Unexpectedly, it fits perfectly on the back of my Lowepro Slingshot 100.I haven't tested it with anything beyond 135mm...so I can't be sure how it will support your larger telephoto lenses. But if you're a casual photographer or mild photo enthusiast like myself, this is great entry-level lens that won't break your wallet

Comments about Adorama Adorama "King" 8-section Tripod with Geared Center Column and 3-Way Panhead:

I bike a lot and wanted a tripod that was not a burden to carry around. This fitted my profile to the bill. I have a canon rebel xti. and this holds the rebel plus a 100-300mm lens with ease. have used it for a week now and am pleased with it.
Cons: the central ridge is made of plastic. It was my mistake that I was slightly rough on it and the plastic broke. tht is the one weakness of the tripod. the plastic parts are not very durable.

Comments about Adorama Adorama "King" 8-section Tripod with Geared Center Column and 3-Way Panhead:

I've taken this tripod everywhere over the past 3 years, and I wouldn't be without it. On a recent trip to Iran it got a lot of use in low-light so I could use long exposures without resorting to flash. A lot of other people on the trip admired it. I like that that it sets up and takes down in seconds, yet has all the bells and whistles found on a lot of the higher-end "professional" models, and fits easily in a daypack or through a gear loop.
I have no complaints, other than it would be nice if it had a little spirit level on it so you could see when you're gear was level, but for the price that might be unreasonable!
